What car under 100g CO2/km?
Discussion
The company I work for has decided to do its bit for global warming and has decreed that all the new company allocated vehicles will now to have to emit < 100g of CO2 per kilometre.
Having looked through the list it is not all gloom and doom and there are some interesting nuggets amongst the eco Euro dross boxes.
A Volvo S60 that does 74mpg and 0-60 in 6.9 seconds?
A Lexus IS300h with a 2.5 litre petrol engine?
Does anyone have any suggestions / recommendations to look at so I can do my bit for saving the rainforests without totally removing the fun from driving?
Many thanks in advance.

have a go in an IS first. Even though it has a 2.5 petrol engine and more power (on paper) than the 320D, A4 and C220's of this world it is actually a bit limp (because of the gearbox perhaps?).
The Volvo's are a good shout. Are you looking at renewing now? New C-Class might be of interest in a few months.

Thanks again.
Have often thought about getting a new job.
I currently run a Mercedes C220 diesel so I'm after something around that size.
There are no details as yet on the list about the new C220 and I have to get my order in within the next month for June delivery.
The list does not include every manufacturer so no Fords are included.
The relatively low (£23k) price of the Volvo appeals compared to the £30k price of the Lexus but there is only one pound difference in B.I.K. tax over the year between the two of them.
The Volvo D4 does sound like it has some kind of witchcraft under the bonnet to achieve those figures without using hybrid technology. Apparently it is due to higher psi/boost figures as each individual cylinder is monitored compared to a standard psi on a common rail.

Is your company sure that 100 is the right limit? My company recently tried the same thing to benefit from tax breaks offered by the govt.
They told people to get sub 100, cars when the limit was actually 105. Now the govt has reduced the cut off for tax breaks to 95.
They're not trying to save the world, they're trying to reduce tax liabilities.

I'm not sure what the company policy is regarding tax breaks etc (Well I do because they fired the fleet manager, outsourced everything to a leasing company and then stick a management charge on top of the lease company rates).
The Lexus appeals because it is > 2 litre and petrol therefore qualifies for an increased pence per mile rate compared to anything under 2 litres. A fair proportion of my annual mileage includes commuting to a place that is not my regular place of work. It seems quite perverse and can't help feeling that HMRC will soon be looking into this current 'loophole'.
Thanks again for all the advice.

I've taken the plunge and opted for the Lexus IS300h.
I'm prepared for all the "Why?" questions but it was a straight fight between the Lexus and a Volvo S60 D4 Business Edition.
I made the fatal mistake of taking Mrs. Rosun to a Lexus dealership to look at it in the metal after visiting a Volvo dealership earlier in the day.
I think the Lexus car salesman understood that I am buying into the brand and although it will be centrally purchased by the fleet manager, he will still see the car for its routine servicing whereas the Volvo salesman reeked of desperation for a sale, even when told it was to be a company car sourced through my employers leasing company. The contrast in mindset between the two dealerships was like night and day.
The next thread I start will probably be "How do I get the claimed MPG from a hybrid vehicle". After the last 10 years of driving diesels it might take some getting used to. All tips & tricks will be gratefully appreciated.
