new user microwave combo oven..what dishes /pans etc

feel a bit dim asking but never mind

just been out and upgraded to a microwave combo with oven and grille built in

now up till now i thought metal was a no no , but this has a wire tray thing for standing items on when grilling ...so what if i want to grille and micro , is the wire tray fine to use?

what about say some frozen chips..can i sling them on a metal backing tray , if not what type of pans /dishes are safe for microwave and oven heat

I would assume silicon baking dishes will work in it?

Does the manual not have some cooking examples? Our Panasonic combi came with pages and pages on what modes to do what things with, and says which of the supplied trays and racks to use. Generally I tend to avoid putting any extra metal in, but it came with a round metal tray which sits on the glass turntable and according the manual should be used for doing stuff like chips or roasts on the combi mode. we tend to use pyrex for anything else though.

nah very little on the instructions , 2 books of recipes we wont ever use but nothing about basic use really

from youtube ive seen a couple of users mircowave/grill with the metal stand in there so i think it must be okay

make sure your only using the grill bit when you have metal in there, or it will spark like hell and nacker the microwave.

It should be insulated to allow the metal grills to be used on the combi modes (ie oven/grill with low power microwave). Our says we have to have the metal tray that sits on top of the glass turntable in whenever using the combi modes to protect the glass, so we regularly do things like reheat pie on oven/microwave with the metal tray in, or cook pizza on oven/grill/microwave with the metal tray and a wire rack in there.
