DAE or BR who cares, but don't **** on others peoples posts!
Discussion
Well I have to say there are some interesting people on the Aston forum who seem to have issues and inadequacy in their lives and are proper keyboard warriors!
Why do you all jump on a topic or post that someone has made who hasn't used Bamford Rose for servicing or upgrades and act as a religious preacher ramming you teachings on other people!
And if that isn't enough you then start taking the piss or willy waving that what you have done is how it should be done and soo much better. Then to make thing better it goes completely off topic and losses all continuity about why the topic was started.
Everyone is entitled to how they want do something and what company they use to do it. But don't turn a perfectly informative post about something into a slanging match or cock fight.
I have no bad opinions of BR and spoke to Mike about various options, but I choose David Appleby Engineering because of racing pedigree and connections with Prodrive and Aston Martin racing, oh and they were closer to me to....
I don't jump on to BR related threads ramming DAE is better, I don't see the point as its not constructive. So why do you BR folk do this to others?
All of you are ruining this forum and putting a sour taste in people's mouths, grow up and learn to respect each other.
You sound more like a bunch of kids who meet up in McDonalds and show off in your Saxo's and Astra's.
You are suppose to be well educated people who have worked hard to achieve the goal of Aston Martin ownership.
Everyone is entitled to your own views and freedom of speech, but can we play nicely and stop throwing your rattles out the pram.
Rant over.......

I too get cocked off with the constant eulogising about Bamford Rose. It wears very thin to constantly read that only one company can do anything AM related. It was just the same when I had a Noble, only one company on there could do anything either, and anyone who dared to say they'd done something different or used someone different was castigated as being a heretic.
So now when I see yet another BR thing I stop reading.

Does it really matter? I go where is convenient and offers the service I want for the right price at the right time ...
If my car needs a service and I have a business trip from Stansted airport, I will likely drop it off at PSR in Stortford on the way ,they have always done a great job...
if Im flying from Manchester I might stop off at Bridge Mill...again, used them a few times, great service and good VFM
I was in my employers office near Reading before xmas, and needed some rear tyres at 24 hours notice. I had excellent service from Lancaster Reading, absolutely faultless, not more than a few quid more expensive than the best online quote I found, they fed and watered me whilst I wait, returned with an ultra clean car....I will now go back again when I need some front tyres if I'm near the office
I have loyalty to the range of independents and dealers that Ive used in the past, but im not going to drive 200 miles out of my way to save £20 or because they were "nice guys" as most people are....really

100% agree with the OP, when I bought my first Aston I was very enthusiastic about the forum and the sharing of information about our cars. I soon learned that there was rather a clique mentality that just slagged off anyone who was a DIYer or wasn't in one camp or another's fan club. I rarely bother to post now, in fact for several months I never even looked on the forum. I'm afraid to say that the other forums are a much more friendly and imformative place to hang out.

Am sure many others follow this option.
+1 and I'd go further and say that if I were BR I'd want to put a stop to it as I suspect its now proving counter-productive and driving people away from wanting to use them (which might be a shame, they might be good)Am sure many others follow this option.
Just going to get my coat and hide out on the classic car forum again. Someone shout when its safe to come back

Ditto. It's a shame for new owners who post genuine questions and their threads are hijacked by the usual suspects, especially if its a query about upgrades. downr said:

Very much this. It's completely put me off even contacting them - so much so that I couldn't see the value in keeping their web address in my Favourites.Don't go everyone. This is still a really friendly forum. As you might imagine, I get to work for many owners on the forum and there seems to be a number of people who are taking a back seat or not bothering with the forum at all, due to the attitude and aggressiveness of a few.
It's been descrided as banter by a few, but let's be honest, a lot of it is hostile. Let's get back to the proper piss taking and not having a go at people becuase of their choice of Indy. At the end of the day, BR are in my opinion the best at what they do and they are nice lads, but there are others out there. The thing is, it's not the fault of either BR, DAE or any others, but rather some owners getting a bit overprotective.
As you know, I'm looking from the outside in, so I would like to say I'm impartial. You all love the brand, so lets all get along now and have a group hug. Not near Ed or Mick though. I've heard about their wandering hands.

People have opinions, that's why we thrive as a race, so let them be heard. You'll be telling me I can't smoke in the car next...(if my wife is reading this, I don't smoke. I was just making a point.)

Good grief, another one. Sadly, the real victims here are the Indys in question and not the rather fragile and needy forum members. Frankly, this is yet another storm in a teacup which Forums worldwide suffer from, but please do not let it sway any decision about using good quality alternatives to Main Dealers. It smacks of shortsightedness and at the end of the day, these guys need to make a living and are simply not at fault.

No really, belittle my opinion. It's fine. You have, of course, just given a wonderful example of the type of behaviour the OP was getting at. So well done for fulfilling the cliché.So, do the decent thing, take your car to where you think it will best be looked after but FFS can we please go back to normal? Ok, here we go.
I hope I am not being placed in the pot of a needy forum member, trust me I am most certainly not in that camp.
I have an AM by choice and will swap as and when I want, that's real choice.
I frequent the forum because I have a real enthusiasm for the marque and enjoy the company of those that both organise and attend the runs. They are all great people but some are unfortunately too engrossed to be objective. I think that a few just get a bit carried away and this feeds through into unwittingly insulting others. That is my opinion, take it for what it's worth or don't, that's your problem.
This response isn't pointed at any one person, just my observations and thoughts.
I do agree that most forums have their staunch diehards but this forum is going downhill fairly quickly.
Let's get back to the friendly banter and stop short of personal attack and insult.
It has been said that as AM owners we are all educated and fairly well off - I am not so sure looking at some of the crap that is listed .
That's my rant anyway.
Oh, and forgive the spelling mistakes, it's a spell check thing. My PA sends all my work stuff out so as to ensure correctness, I think she would get a bit pissed if I told her to monitor my PH activity. TBH she would be shocked to learn I frequent such sites!

Tony, were I to have a pot of needy forum members, you certainly wouldn't be in it. My point was probably poorly made. I agree with many points raised here, but still maintain that it's the likes of BR and DAE that will be adversely and tangibly affected. Impasse's comment about taking them off his favourites list was a case in point. I simply don't understand why the behaviour of some forum members ( I sense I'm now included in the hit list ) should prevent anyone from deciding to use them, unless there is a clear reason not to.
Off to bed.
Off to bed.
Bins, I wasn't having a go at you my friend.
After a hard days work I frequent the site for some light hearted discussions and certainly don't want to view pissing pot discussions about how anyone's gentleman sausage or subjective opinions are bigger than the others.
These are just cars that are inanimate objects, they neither live nor breathe.
The real losers are the people that fall all about them - a bit like religion but that's a whole new topic for debate.
We should all agree to disagree and let's get on with our enthusiasm for the marque - life's too short to carry on with this futile disagreement over scrap metal.

Don't query my actions, query the ones who have made me decide to act in such a way. The ultimate irony being they're the ones who are damaging their beloved companies as a result of their childish antics. I've made this point before, but given this thread I'll do so once again FWIW.
Yes, the hostile posts and beratings are tiresome and insulting, but so too can be the hijacking of threads by the usual group with their endless back and forth 'banter' as you call it. For us not in the 'clique', it is mostly unintelligible seeing as it depends greatly on knowing the people and places involved.
Particularly frustrating is asking some kind of technical question and then seeing upon your return that there are now 50 posts. Oh boy! Answers to my questions, perhaps. Well, no actually, more like 2 relevant posts followed by some inane response that then results in 46 friendly (and pointless) 'banter' posts. Like searching through a pile of horse manure....there must be a pony in there somewhere, right? Well, no actually, just a steaming pile.
Hey, I appreciate a clever post or two, but not a hundred that in effect renders the thread completely useless. And don't respond by telling me that if I want dry I should frequent the AMOC forum, because I already do that so that I can get info about my non-Gaydon car.

Actually, this is the part that annoys me the most. Yes, it's nice that some of you on the forum have met in real life and even live in close proximity. But this has caused a number of members to treat every topic as a pub for discussing irrelevant conversation. For god's sake, pick up a phone, Skype, FaceTime, email, or meet at the local pub and have all your friendly discussions about the weather or whatever. Your personal conversations within these threads are of no interest to the rest of the members on Pistonheads who don't know you personally. Isn't there a general "lounge" in Pistonheads for off-topic discussions? Maybe you guys can all chat there and use the Aston forum for genuine, car-related information.
