Fairly urgent printing advice needed

Chaps,

I've been put in to a bit of a situation. I shot an image for a client to be used as their EP and promotional posters. The shot they wanted was in the fine art portraiture style and they are very happy with the product. I (regretfully) warned them that getting the posters printed should be done by someone who knows what they're doing as the image is dark and moody and someone inexperienced will send you posters that will be so dark they are basically ruined (from past - albeit minimal - experience).

Their manager has now asked for my advice and I know very little about print as I don't do it.

1) Who was the guy everyone on here uses?

2) They want to use this site and have asked my advice on paper type and colours. I'd prefer to point them towards someone knowledgeable, but should they insist on using this company - which might yield the best results?

Give Lisa or Tiffany at Norton Frame and Print a bell on 01653 698870 and say I recommended you, they do all sorts of top quality rush jobs for me.

Is this really a Fine Art quality challenge or a Poster Quality challenge?

If they are looking for multiple prints of a poster their decision making may be somewhat different to how they would approach a one or two copy fine art display print.

Have you talked to their preferred supplier?

Personally prefer DS Colour Labs, think they'd be able to do that size. It sounds like they're thinking on price, if there's no massive time constraint why not get one from Print24 and another from AN Other supplier, put them side by side and confer. Cant be more than a few quid if you're doing posters

They are really tight on budget so I've given them advice and left them to it. I'm 99% sure the posters will be poor quality but I can't do much really. They asked me to create an image for them and sent me an extensive mood board. I created the image and they were very happy and think it's "amazing". My job is done.
