Will there be any private car sales in 5 years time?

It used to be the preferred option. When you wanted to change car you advertised yours in the local rag, put a sign in the window, had the guy from the trader round to take a pic etc. now, Autotrader has 387,000 ads LESS THAN 10. % ( only 29,000) are private. EBAY is full of dealers, WBAC markets to the masses and dealers make it simple to trade your car in. Times change and lots of folk seemingly can't be bothered to polish up their steed and wait for the phone to ring. Will there be such a thing as a private sale in the not too distant future?

Only reason why is auto trader/ebay/ gumtree all charge a lot to advertise where at one point was cheaper. A lot of people are using specialist forums to advertise on and facebook buy and sell pages.

Lets not forget the abundace of lease and company cars now too....

I won't pay retail and a I won't accept trade. There will always be people like. I'd be surprised if the private / dealer mix has changed that much in the last ten years. It's bloody expensive to advertise on AT now so a lot of private sellers will just list elsewhere.
