Hey guys,

So here is a quick car history, bearing in mind I am still a student!

My first car, got me through the first year and got me my first NCB, and 23k genuine miles. Perfect first car.

Then I thought I needed something a bit more, so I bought a Saxo (hate away).

My Saxo decided she did not like her gearbox and I fell out with her so had a mid life crisis and bought a Mondeo as a daily hack:

I then got my Saxo sorted and back on the road and sold the Mondeo, and then some kind soul wrote her off for me:

So then it was time to move on, and I bought a Grande Punto 1.9 diesel. These arent the quickest standard, but with a map they will see 7.5 secs to 60 and still return 50 mpg, perfect for my final year at uni:

Comments/views and opinions please!

I think these Grande Puntos are quite good looking cars, nice colour too fella. So how much did it cost to get the car to that performance? And what mpg would it give at a 90mph cruise?

A remap costing £200 will get claimed BHP from 130 to 185 and torque to 280.

Im not sure if its optimistic, only time will tell, thats what others have been claiming but I am yet to find out myself.

42% increase, from a remap?

I do kinda find that hard to believe. Is it done on a rolling road, will you get a print out? Or is it one of these generic, 5-minutes-plugged-into-a-computer things?
I agree it does sound a lot, but these figures have been proven. Plenty of threads on the Fiat Forum about up to 200bhp with a remap.

It would also be done on a rolling road.

Celtic tuning claim those numbers, and where I'd get mine done arguably get more power.

Also, just reading up on it more, a 1.9 diesel with 175bhp did a 7.4seconds 0-60.

^ Mine dyno'd at 170-something after a remap.

I enjoyed puffing soot in Type-R drivers' faces from lights/roundabouts. biggrin

Theyre too far away from me.

In recent news I bought a sample pot of Dodo Juice Banana Armour and may give that a go at the weekend depending on the weather.

More cleaning products shall be bought on payday.

I believe that a remap does a lot for these. The only thing I would change if it was my car is I would have a badge in the grill.

I have the badged grill in the boot, I do want to put my own stamp on the car so will be playing around with a few options now the weather is getting better (fingers crossed)

No matter what other modifications you do (and it looks pretty damn good), please put the badge back on.

these do push out 180bhp with a map, some small modifications their pushing 200+ quite easily.

Ill have some time this weekend so I may put the badged grill back on to see what I prefer.

Need to sell some parts from my old car and then map should be coming very shortly.

Only thing Ive bought for her at the moment is some wax, with more cleaning products to come on payday.
