New 996 C4S owner.

Just got myself into a 2002 996 C4S. Basalt black with black leather. Bose, PDC, Nav, sadly no PSE though.
It's done 71,000 miles but the good news on this car is that it had a full Hartech engine rebuild only 7,000 miles ago with upgraded internals and IMS. This is documented by a detailed invoice followed by a full major service by them too. This gives me much needed peace of mind after coming from more modern cars. Also thrown into the deal are four new N rated tyres and a service from the local OPC.
I'm planning on getting the car detailed and maybe the wheels refurbed with a different colour. Perhaps a gunmetal grey.
Anyway, I pick the car up next week so will put some pics up.
I'm also in Manchester so will be putting some serious consideration into joining the maintenance plan with Mike at Sports and Classic.

Sounds nice, and a sound purchase. However, Bolton's not far away and whilst I rate Mike very highly (he looks after my 996 & Cayenne) I have to say that for a car rebuilt and maintained by Hartech it would make sense to go on their plan instead.
Likewise I'd get them to do the service rather than the OPC, as they already know the car, and part of the inspection cost for their service plan should be offset too (same as S&C too to be fair) - seems daft to pay the OPC (whether directly or through the seller) to inspect half the items that you'll have to pay again to have Hartech/S&C to check, especially if you wouldn't choose to then use the OPC for any recommended work.
It's up to you though, have fun & enjoy your new car.

No PSE??? Worth checking the spec sheet if its still part of the history as some cars have been known to have the PSE removed at some point.
Tell tale sign is the exhaust button on the dash if it had it from factory.
My money would go towards a aftermarket exhaust instead of a wheel refurb, cant beat that sound at full throttle in a tunnel!!

The deal stood me at £17500 including a three month warranty. I think the price is slightly higher than the average asking price but not only was the service history complete, it was backed up by a file full of invoices. The ones from Hartech detail exactly what was done and confirmed an uprated IMS had been fitted. Having a service being done prior to collection and a set of N4 tyres means that hopefully I'll have a year of maintenance free motoring. 
Not sure what you are coming from but these cars have a real depth of talent and it will take you a while to realise just how capable they are with a decent geo.
Push the middle pedal nice and hard and trust the chassis. They like being taken by the scruff of the neck. Keep PSM on for road work.
Never put the car away with wet brakes. Get front mesh fitted.

Alright, alright! Stop making me have buyers remorse over lack of PSE! I quite sensibly went for a car with the best history and fully documented Hartech rebuild 
Anyway, I've sold off a few bits that I had knocking around for my old car which will fund a Milltek exhaust. Anyone have any experience of them on a Porsche? I had one on my V10 Audi S6 and it was great.
