Hi all - I'm not with my car right now, whats the best rear tyre size on a standard spider? Tyre will be either a T1R or R1R Toyo.

235/40/18 was std on the Tam so I assume the same for the T350. You can go bigger to 255 but they may rub on the inside of the arch

I have 255 and they do rub from time to time but it is minimal.
I prefer the R1R over the T1R.

Tom.

Have 255/35/18 Eagle F1s now; but I will most likely switch back to 235/40/18 R1Rs when these run out. The rubbing is no problem for general driving, but if I have a passenger it will rub over bumps, and more annoyingly it will rub on the track quite often even when having no passenger.

Tony, my advice would be to stick with standard, the car was designed for it and have your geo and ride height adjusted correctly. Rubbing will only cause issues. Driving down a B road, road conditions variable, rubbing at an inappropriate time, off the road you go tongue out bigger tyres, low ride height, not for me, I prefer performance over aesthetics and investing in a correctly setup car means B roads are as much fun as A roads smile

Probably good advice there Steve. Ifmemory serves me well the original road tests of the Tuscan all seemed to compliment the ride and handling when they were on 16s and then nearly all left the factory on 18s and people spent ages trying to get them right.
Hope all is well with the orange mean machine and of course Tonys 4.3.

I was thinking of those, only 10mm wider but same profile.

PS - Kev, when am I going to get a spin in the Aston?

Whenever we next get together Tony, any excuse for a run out. Maybe Steve will organise another of his T350 get togethers and I can be the interloper again except in the Vantage rather than the the Sag this time.
Take it all is well with the T except needing new rubber?

Thank you, different to the TVRs I've had over the years but great in its own way.
