I've noticed that one of the radiator fans on my Sagaris is not coming on. Upon further investigation have noticed that the connectors are heavily rusted, and also the insulation on one of the wires has perished and the wire itself has rusted. So I think I will need to rewire them and also fit new connectors. Unlike TVR, I think I will choose waterproof ones.

Can anybody tell me what the maximum current is through the fan connector and the wires so that I make sure I spec suitable connectors and suitable wire, please?

Update: Had the brainwave of going out and actually looking at the fans. paperbag

They are SPAL VA10-AP50/C-61A (although it is a little hard to read and could be AP60).

A google for this leads me to the SPAL website, and there is no data for a VA10-AP60/C-61A but there is for a VA10-AP50/C-61A, so it must be that. Maximum current draw is 13.5A

I'll use wire and connectors rated to at least 15A in that case.

Rather than delete this thread, I will leave it here in case the information is of any use to anyone else.

Would the fuse rating give you an idea?

Save the time and hassle, this company sells the connectors. Sufficiently rated if you get the right size to fit your loom and waterproof.

Thanks. That was exactly the type of connector I was intending to use. yes

Kind of shocking that TVR didn't use them in the first place, especially as it was a known issue in the Chimaera (I confess I just bound mine round with self-amalgamating tape). I don't know why it didn't occur to me to do the same with my Sagaris when I got it. Oh well.

Not half as shocking as what I swa them on sale for when I was looking to change mine back end of last year. Can't remember where now but crikey there's mark-up & there's mark-up!
