Please keep an eye out for my XJR which was stolen today. I had my locker broken into at my local pool in Littlehampton, West Sussex.. Wallet and keys gone and so was the car. It's a black Jaguar XJR Reg IIG2367.

Good news! The police have found my car all of 1000 metres from where it was stolen. Car is being forensically examined and then hopefully the toerag arrested. Not going to get the car back for a while but at least it's found. Not sure if there is any damage yet, will know more tomorrow. Cheers! Mike

Glad you've found it.

My experience of 'forensic examination' was the police damaging parts which were previously fine.
Hope this is not the case for you.

Hope the local pool has cctv in the entrance area so they can narrow down which scumbag/s were there at the time.

I'd have thought they will be looking for fingerprints and DNA. Yes, there is CCTV at reception and at the entrance to the changing rooms. I'm hopeful that, if they have a look they will recognise someone 'known' to them.

I gave them the underside of the steering column plastic trim. They wanted it to check for prints.
went back to the station a while later to get it back to be told the part gets destroyed in the process of print checking. May have been BS but I never got the part back. Wish they had said that before i handed it over but it's likely they were only looking after their own interests.

Blimey - did you park back to back with my STR on Thursday morning?! Street parked not in the car park? Where was it found, Wick?

Yes, that was me, down Hendon road next to the leisure centre. I had a good look at yours and thought I'd quite like one of those.

It was found in South Terrace by Kingsmere flats. Someone on the facebook page 'spotted Littlehamopton' saw my 'Stolen' post. They recognised the car and knew where it was left. The police recovered it the same day. I haven't checked the mileage but it seems they drove about 1000 metres in all. Main issue is that they have my keys and remote. I don't know if they've done any damage yet. Hopefully will find out tomorrow.

I think I saw your car at about 12.30pm if that helps with timing at all.

Glad you got it back.
Question. Would you have to tell the insurance company what happened, and if so, would it be listed a stolen & recovered?

That would have been me driving to the pool. I got there at about 1pm.

I contacted my insurance company on the day it was stolen. I have a feeling that it will be listed as stolen and recovered. Bit of a pain really as they only drove approx 1000 metres and then parked up. Interestingly they locked the car and took the keys presumably to stop someone else nicking it. Ironic really!

Apparently there is no damage to it which is positive.

It's a nightmare, as I guess if it is noted, that will have an impact on its future value?
Still, it's back in the driveway and still in top condition.

Cheers.

They are wary of tracker and the modus is to park a car up and watch it for a few days before doing anything else with it. There was no-one near it when I saw it. Did you notice there is street cctv as well?

Did you see it parked up on Friday or Thursday? I was at the pool both days...I'm training to swim the channel so train a lot (5 days a week). On Thursday I parked behind you in Hendon Road. On Friday, at 1pm I parked in the back car park (to stop the car from getting dented...again).

Yes, I can see the modus they use. It seemed strange to think that they had only driven 1000m and then parked up, locked it and left it.

The police came today and are going to look at the fish eye camera on Kingsmere flats and the pool cameras. Where are the street cameras? Are there any between the pool and South terrace?

I will update the outcome.
