Opinions please on noisy neighbours

Quick one, interested to know the thoughts of the PH massive...
Live in a three bed semi, and it appears the adults of next door are away because the (admittedly decent sounding) stereo is cranked up to 11. Now, I wouldn't normally be too fussed but it is LOUD- but more to the point my Mother- who works herself to the bone bless her- is asleep upstairs and needs to be up at 4:30 tomorrow morning for work.
What time is it reasonable to endure the 'tunes' until do you think? We don't have a great relationship with next door anyway, so I need to try and be a little bit smart/reasonable about dealing with it.
What do you guys think? 11? 12?

knock at 11 and ask for it to be turned down a bit
if they dont knock at 2315 and say it needs to go off as you want to sleep
your local council should have an emergency line for noise issues if polite requests fail
or I guess you could go all postal on them and shoot them in the face and fire bomb the house

After 11 is definitely frowned on by the environmental health types. You need to nip it in the bud really and go round there at midnight and bang on the door. An angry man at the door at midnight will certainly give them a shock. We had a couple next door in our old barn conversion with a baby from Hell. Despite having the rest of the house to put it in they insisted on leaving it screeching at all hours of the night right next to the 0.0001 inch thick party wall to our bedroom. Detached is now non negotiable on my house shopping list. Good luck OP.

I found that a friendly word will often do the trick, if this fails then find their water stopcock and turn it off. It wont help with the noise but no water in the house is a good way of getting back at them. Also if they are anything like the idiots I had trouble with it will take them days to find the problem.

Beat advice is to pop round and enjoy some tunes ....Happened to me a few years back with a young baby, next door parents away young daughter invites all and sundry, i was on early start too, luckily when asked at around half eleven to notch it down a touch they complied, was on great terms with neighbors which you state your not, but you can only ask .....
Mention it will be reported to Enviromental Health in the morning if its not turned down or off so you cannot hear it (thats the important bit) & report it online now. that way they will get a letter in the post thats usually strongly worded in the next day or so.
If you suspect drugs are being used then notify the plod who will happily attend otherwise they won't be interested. Likewise if they kick off call plod.
I'd be tempted to record the conversation on your phone, various apps for recording or video with it in your pocket.
