Road Rage Incident
Discussion
Asking for advice on behalf of the wife.
Driving through Streatham (London) this morning she refused to allow another driver pull in front at a set of lights. She was wanting to go straight across and this other driver came up the left hand turn lane trying to push in.
To cut it short, this man got verbally abusive and my missus gave it back. Not liking this whilst the lights were red the other driver got out of his car and tried to open the passenger door of the wife's car. The central locking held out, and then he came round to the driver’s door trying to get in. Finding that also locked he walks back round to the passenger door and proceeds to give it a good kicking. By this stage the wife is on the phone to the BIB. The other driver then gets back in his car and drives off.
By this time my wife has reported the incident and then speaks to two witnesses, one of whom gives her his telephone number, but she did take a note of both of their registrations.
She's subsequently been to a Police Station and made a statement, describing the other driver and giving his registration details, she's also take some photographs of the damage, (thankfully her digital camera was in the car). She's also reported it to her insurance company.
I believe the damage is bad, but she won't be back home until tomorrow so I can't really assess the severity.
Is there anything else that she should / can do to get this Neanderthal to pay for his actions.

Unforgiveable. Well done to wife for keeping it locked, keeping cool, getting independent witness details, registrations, and photos too.
Textbook stuff, this ape will pay but what a dreadful experience - best wishes to her and good luck to you both with this one.

In such incidents, I know it is hard, but getting independent witnesses is essential.
Why, becuase ten to one, the other party will make a counter allegation so when the file is read it is one against one and may not lead to a prosecution.
Hopefully BiB will source any CCTV that may be in the area?

What an extremely distressing incident.
It sounds as if your wife responded to it very well, and I sincerely hope the guilty party gets properly sorted out, and no half measures.
Quite frankly people who behave like him are not fit to be in charge of motor vehicles.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Absolutely DVD, cctv viewed, Section 9 statements taken, Crime 1 filled out and pnc checks on the offenders vehicle will be done.
Then, providing there is damage, or even if offender was being reckless as to whether damage was caused, he can be arrested for criminal damage.
Hope all goes well.
This disgusting behaviour should result in an assault charge as far as I am concerned. The man is an absolute disgrace to the species and should not be allowed his share of air, it is wasted on him.
Full marks to your wife for handling this situation so well, it must have been frightening indeed.
I hope he is found and punished to the full extent allowed, which will not be enough.
This has really annoyed me.......

Thanks folks for the feedback, I'll follow up with more details as I know them, but I believe from the initial Police checks the drivers car is showing as registered and being insured, but was the driver the registered owner and was he insured to drive that car ?? Those are going to be questions... I'm just peeved that some people can't accept that they are in the wrong and have to resort to violence.
On a positive note at least she was using the ST200 and not the M5 !!!! I would have been well and truly gutted

Sad story - my sympathies. Hope she gets over it.
I regularly drive around sarf london and can only suggest that if you see someone driving like a twat - keep well away! let them act like a moron and do not aggrovate the situation.
Many are drugged up, in a car which is not theirs and dont give a sh*t. They know as well as we do that as long as they dont misbehave in front of a camera, they are likely to get away with it.
I once had a group of teenagers on pushbikes follow me from thornton heath to streatham common (heavy traffic), chucking stones at my truck. Trouble is, if you get out you will either get a good kicking or end up in nick yourself.
I hate the whole sh*thole area. Nuclear detonation would do thousands of pounds wort of improvements.

Driving through westminster, was moving at about 20 mph in a 3 laned part and a taxi suddenly swerved from lane one into my lane almost taking out the front of my car
I didnt react too much, just rolled my eyes, he saw this (therefore must have been waiting for a reaction by looking in his rear view - trying to provoke a fight maybe?) and proceeded to stop his car, got out and tried to smash my window calling me a "nazi
" and "with people "like me" who needs the taliban"... Interestingly if he had observed and signal'd I would have let him in anyway
That day he did no favours for his stereotype...
As towman says, just get on with it and if it goes pete tong get as much information as you can.
I once had a pair of Salford nutters chase me from the M602 all the way to Leyland on the M6.
They carved me up. I rolled my eyes, and then they started throwing things out of their fiesta at my BMW.
I managed to overtake them, but would then get held up in traffic. They would just blast down the hardshoulder and swerve in front or alongside of me and try to ram me.
Couldn't get to my mobile phone, didn't want to risk coming off a motorway junction with traffic lights etc, figured that around Leyland traffic would be lighter so I could outdrag the nutters.
Worked like a dream, came off at Leyland, turned round back south on the M6, and stopped for petrol as I was on fumes (another worry for me). Put a 'splash and go' in and rejoined the motorway at precisely the same time as the nutters came past!
Outran them again this time, came off at Parbold and easily lost them in the twisties.
Phoned the Police with the Reg no of the Fiesta and details of my chase. I didn't want some prosection for driving like a nutter looming up.
Anyway never heard anything back at all, but worrying just the same.
These guys have NO fear, remorse or worry about their actions. They operate under a completely different set of rules to normal folk and are a danger to society.
To see them swerve from the hard shoulder to the outside lane on a busy M6 and then try to ram me was a bit discincerting and could easily have caused a massive accident. Bit scary really.

Ah well you can't judge on profiles.
Years ago vaguely near Swiss Cottage got cut up by a Silver Shadow, Mulliner Park Ward 2 door in velvet green for the record. As normal just a raised eyebrow from myself but front seat passenger shall we say reacted, blooming socialists!
Down came the drivers window on the Rolls, out came a female arm, very elegantly clad in white elbow length opera glove and :ahem: spoke with languid forked fingers.
The only answer to that was a switch into that sketch from The Frost Report with Cleese, Barker and Corbett. "I know my place!"
Not exactly road rage.........
