Hi - I need to replace all four tyres and am wondering if there is a viable alternative to Michelin Pilot Sport 2's? The current set of PS2's have lasted about 7 months and 3 of those months have been extremely wet so these have proven to be a pretty expensive option. Have any of you have had experience with Conti Sports or even Vredestein.? I do very little motorway mileage, mostly A roads and less then 1,000/month. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Michelin PSS, top of the tree at the moment, better dry grip than the PS2's and lots more wet grip and better wear rates.

Not a BMW owner (yet) but I have a set of Vredesteins at the moment and previously had Sport Contact 5s. Both offer excellent grip but wear far too quickly. By the sounds of it, the PSS offers the best combination of grip and wear rates, followed by the Eagle F1s.

Thanks. Anyone got a good mail order recommendation for cheap Pilot Super Sports. I'm currently being quoted £1,200 for purchase and fitting, which I;m pretty sure I can beat.

Hi, I was looking for the same for my E90 M3 and started a post called Michelin Pilot Super Sports about a month ago. Loads of helpful stuff in there from people on this subject. I went with the Pilot Super Sports following the various recommendations and have found them excellent in the month since I've had them. Particularly good in the wet.

mytyres.co.uk will do the set for around than £900 (delivered) I've used them before service was OK but they took 2 weeks to deliver the tyres and sent the fronts one week then the rears the next.

If you're willing to wait then you'll save some money.

Check lovetyres and camskill too. They were cheaper than mytyres for me.

I have used mytyres before without issue & I have found tyreuniverse to be very good value for money & their tyres were sent from Germany without any issue.

http://lovetyres.com is m3cutters sponsors so are usually the cheapest on M3 sizes.

That said, the Germans have some crazy deals out there at the moment thanks to the euro / gbp

Cheers. About comparable to lovetyres and camskill but it'll be another one to check in future.

Edit: scratch that. Super Sports are all about the same, everything else is significantly cheaper though!

A word of warning about these guys.

I ordered a set of four PSSs for my wifes car about 6 weeks ago. Got an e-mail from them saying they would not process my order (paid by credit card) without copy of utility bill or payment in advance.

I phoned their call centre and said, sorry, either process the order with the information you have or I'll buy elsewhere. And call me back in the next few hours to let me know.

Heard nothing for two days, so bought elsewhere.

Five days after their e-mail, they processed order without further reference to me, charged my credit card, and sent the tyres to the fitting agent I had nominated (so were never in my posession).

Was a real PITA to get money back - several calls to call centre, completing forms with credit card company, threatening to speak to trading standards. Took about 4 weeks in the end to get money back.

Ultimately their position was that I cancelled the order and they would not refund until the tyres were back in their posession.

Not good, I'd heard some bad things about them but after I placed my order, thankfully only issue I had was a delay in delivery.

what have you been doing to destroy 4 PS2s in ~7000 miles?

On my E92 M3, even with quite a bit of track time, I'm on track to get about 12K miles from a set of rears, and maybe 18K from a set of fronts.

I hear of others getting 20K+ from a set of PS2s.

Doubt you'll find any other tyre will give you much better life.

I've ordered with Tyreleader and a full set of Pilot Super Sports including VAT and delivery are £803 - service so far seems very professional. A local fitter has quoted me £18 a corner, which works out at over £350 savings on going through the normal channels. I'm honestly gobsmakced!
