Overheat & Oil pressure loss

Not sure what the issue is here, drove the car last night and it overheated v quickly - v unusual - stopped it before it got too hot (was up to 110 on temp guage tho!)

noticed that at the same time the oil pressure dropped off the scale

Checked coolant and that wasn't particularly low but topped it up anyway, checked oil and that was fine. Started car this morning and engine is making tapping sound at idle (ok when revved) and gets noisier the longer the car runs - bit gutted as it's up for sale at the mo aswell!

any ideas? need to get it to local tiv garage really but its about 14 miles away and don't fancy doing any more damage so prob have to go to local general garage and hope for the best (and that they know what they are doing)

My last Griff lost most oil pressure and was a cracked oil pick up pipe in the sump,sucking air as well as oil. It would rattle at low revs and get quieter with revs. I guess without much oil it would get pretty hot, quick. Was the temp the first change, or was it oil pressure loss first? Mine was limited damage to rockers at £400.

Do your cooling fans operate?
Check this before worrying about something else. If the engine has overheated, coolant will have escaped out of the expansion vessel and require at the very least topping up but would be best to bleed the entire system. Then check for the cooling fans to operate.
The viscosity of the oil will thin and thus pressure will drop accordingly due to the rise above normal running temp.
Check the oil level and don't use less than 15W/50.

Check your jubilee clips are tightened, and as previously said make sure both fans come on at 90. It could be your temp sensor needs replacing (Mine did recently)
