Hornby track mat

I recently purchased a flying Scotsman train set. I'd like to mount the track mat on some mdf board. Space is a problem, So came up with the idea of two decorating tables. Anyone else done this? Any other idea's welcome.

not solid enough mate, make a better baseboard with 2" x 1" framing topped with 12mm mdf, and folding legs formed with 2" x 2". seriously as i have said before the baseboard is the foundation and if you dont get it right and solid the track will never be good and frustration and derailments will follow
