How loud are PHer's cars?

Going on the assumption that most people on this site are petrol heads, and that petrol heads tend to like the sound of things internally combusting (in an IC engine at least), I was curious to know what proportion of PHers have a suitable exhaust to indulge their auditory system...

To start us off, my car produced a mighty 83db of quiet at a track day sound check, which is frankly pathetic for a 5.7l V8. Really need to get that problem rectified

My main car is completely standard, but not the quietest Focus you can buy.

My e92 m3 has an ac schnitzer exhaust as the oem is must far too quiet for a V8...

The Fiat sounds sporty with it's 4 tailpipes,can't remember what Cosworth sounds like......

My DC2 is loud as, need to sort it out just so I can go out on track.

I put 'loud', sr20det with full stainless exhaust, decat and 2 silencers so not ridiculous.

My old MX5 was absolutely ridiculous. Only silencer was the back box, which did naff all. It was brilliant fun!

525i- too quiet. Would like to open it up a bit but the system is the original standard stuff (17 years / 129k miles) so it seems a shame to cut it up.

My DC5 with a Spoon N1 is 83db at 3,000rpm, when it was measured by the cops...I volunteered btw. Dunno how loud it is once VTEC kicks in y0!!

Well I've got a TVR with a decatted manifold (all 3 out - 1 main cat and 2 pre cats). The volume has certainly gone up since this was done.

It doesn't have straight through pipes though as I don't like my ears bleeding whilst I'm driving.

I'd say 'sporty sounding. Mine is a little louder than usual, I had an exhaust made up to my specification that I wanted to hear some colour, but nothing to the extend that would upset my neighbours when I come home from work late at night or early in the morning.

My car is not the sort that gets the nosy pipe treatment and no bike of mine will ever have a noisy pipe again.

You should only be able to buy a noisy exhaust after you have had a 2 stroke Detroit diesel engine parked out side you house at full load on a dyno for a couple of weeks. Totally anti social.

Mine is a tad louder than my next doors neighbours tvr with straight through exhaust. Mine is a mk1 mx5 with rsr tubular manifold 4-1 with de cat and twin exit back box. It does have 2 back boxes but that doesn't quieten it down by much. The only downside is mpg can get silly low if you keep the revs up but it sounds so good that it makes it slightly more bearable.

My mx5 with a de-catted stainless steel exhaust sets the odd car alarm off in multi story car parks. Very anti social but great fun.
