very poor condition roads lately - exposed ironworks

anyone else noticed this? I'm particularly noticing loads of exposed ironworks and collapsing mains covers etc, plus general lumps, dips and generally terrible condition of roads. Some of the roads are so bad to drive on, but it's not like you can report a specific fault - it's just like driving down a farm track. The amount of metalwork is a new one though - not found it this bad in the past, ever.

Now in years gone by they always blame it on freezing conditions - water getting in cracks then freezing, expanding, and making the road surface worse. But that must be bks cos we haven't had any freezing this year, we've had......water! Bloody hell yeah - rain. Wooh.

this is NW london by the way, so no floods. How are the rest of you finding the roads?

I've noticed this in recent weeks, the constant deluge seems to be taking its toll on the roads which weren't in tiptop shape and which are now 'downtown Mogadishu'.

I reported some blocked drains quite some weeks ago (solidly blocked - by what looks like silt / sand). They have not been cleared, still. So all that excess water will be swilling around the upper road surface I suppose.

personally I don't understand why the councils that sub all the temp repairs out don't kick some arse - the temp repairs are normally diabolical in quality. Does no fker check on the quality? Is noone responsible for that?

I feel a letter from 'outraged of edgware' coming on...

There are lots of deep and sharp-edged potholes around Swansea which have appeared over the past couple of months of non-stop rain. I guess the drains have just been overloaded.
