Where to go to get the best service?

Hi

Need to get my Punto serviced in the next couple of months and would prefer to have a major service for peice of mind. Halfords autocetnres do one for £205 but will I be able to get it cheaper? This is my first car so never gone through this before!

Also, what are the chances of a garage giving a courtesy car to a 18 year old?

Chances of a courtesy car are slim to none.

I'd try and find a good local independent, having a good relationship with them will be useful when stuff breaks.

I want pretty much everything that Halfords offer, but cheaper.

Will look around for indies but don't know the area at all.

Could't agree more - my mechanic has got me out of bother quite a few times.

I would also avoid HA like the plague.

Get the oil changed at a place like Kwik fit. Contrary to popular belief, servicing a car should not be expensive, because it certainly isn't complicated. You can do the rest yourself in less than an hour.

I've found mark specialists very good. Often run by techies who have opted out of the main dealer thing abd are used to fixing older models.

For the bargain price of free I can offer the following

You park you car at my house.

I will rag it round the block at lunchtime.

I won't touch do anything.

Then I will tell you it needs new discs and pads
