Is it possible to simply unbolt the cooling fans on the Griff and rotate them by 180 degrees, and then re-affix them ?

The reason is the wiring currently lies down the middle of the fans (looking a bit unsightly), and if I can turn them by 180 degrees the cables can be stowed more neatly and tucked out of view.

Or.................is it more complicated than that ?

Having just rewired my Fans , i can tell you not that easy as mine had all locking nuts on Fans....so as soon as you try to loosen them the bolt turns as well, you would have to remove the Fans with the Frame, and that means Rad out , so you can get at frame bolts.

Yes - i suspected that may be the case.....or, the nut falling off the back into the gubbins of the fans.

If I did get them out will they rotate by 180 degrees and simply fit back onto the frame again ( ? ) or is it not a uniform shape ?

I may be wrong but I thought the fan units had a drain hole at the bottom. If you turn them upside down then the motors fill with water.
I believe they have an arrow showing the correct way up to be fitted.

As far as i remember as i had my Rad out as well you could rotate motors, but as said above motors themselves do have drain hole, as water pouring off bonnet is right above motors !.

you could use the plastic mounting type that pushes through the RAD and locks with a spring clip, using tape to help secure and would allow you to position as you wish. I have used this on a new Rad just fitted and works well and is working OK, no movement. Care required though to make sure rubber spacers fitted correctly so as not to chaff.

I don't want to remove the entire radiator housing unit - I am on about unbolting the fan motor and associated fanblades / plastic shroud, and turning that by 180 degrees, then re-screw it back onto the main housing unit which holds the rad. Thus the cables would lead in from the top, (and could then be hidden) .

See the pic i attached above. The bolts / screws are a light aluminium colour against the black plastic guard.

I will investigate the drain hole ( pops into garage to peer into bonnet.......)

After looking closely, I can see the correct way to mount the fan motor IS marked.

Here is a pic. I have shown the marking (by pointing with my screwdriver !).

Looks like I'll have to rethink this one - maybe just tidy up the cables a bit......
