My battery has died despite being connected to a smart charger and I need a new one.

I've currently got a Varta 063 but it's ridiculously difficult to get in and out of the space available on a V8 wedge. What batteries are others using that are easier to manage?

Go for the biggest battery with the highest cranking capacity, matching terminals and longest guarantee that will fit in the space available. Ebay ads generally list sizes, my last battery purchase was from eurocarparts on ebay.

go for a bosch silver top - they last well and are good at being left for a while without being charged smile

I just buy a standard one from my local factors with a 3-year guarantee, they usually last 5 years or so.

Second that Matt great battery ! Not sure of the age of the one I have just replaced but it's been on there for the past four years, in that time the SX has been laid up many times and each time it has not failed ! So it was another silver top for me !! thumbup

Holy thread bumperoony.....

Are these chickens teeth? Trying to find a dealer and its not easy. I can get a Yasu (?) with 620 CCA or a Silver blue top with 630CCA but the battery before the one I have now was a Bosch silver, silver top and sure that was close to 700CCA? Prefer to get the Silver top.

Mines got a Halfords Advanced 500 amp HCB065. Works fine, turns the engine over sharply ,holds its charge well and fits nicely . No complaints.

I have a deep cycle leisure battery on mine. doesnt mind being left to run flat, and, although it takes almost 10 days to fully charge, has 1000CCA !!!

I have a lot of faith in the silver. It had a lot of life in it when I had starting issues. On the car for over eight years before it went south. This battery was not my choice, car in for a service and the old silver went and this one is giving me gip. And 700 or CCA was a corker.

Yeah! I think so. I had one on my Cerbera. It changed the car from having wierd electrical gremlins to being spot on. It shifts a big engine over easily.

Many apologies for hijacking Simons thread but looks like I have a winner then, came looking for the Silver but this looks better.

Bought a Bosch Silver from Halfords a few years ago as it happens, for the Fiesta, they have stopped selling em.
