My wife has requested a TV in the kitchen and the only wall it can go on is above a bench seat which serves the kitchen table. OK so one wouldn't be able to see the TV when sitting at the table but that's not the idea it's more for when we're in there cooking etc. So, because it will above people's heads when sat at the bench I want something very slim. Not bothered about it swivelling out from the wall so it will be permanently fitted to the wall.

It seems Samsung made some thin ones with a depth of just 29.9mm (1.25") which would be excellent but searching their web site it seems that perhaps that was last years technology and now they are 44mm deep! (37” D5520 Series 5 SMART Full HD LED TV)

So, does anyone have any suggestions of a thin TV? I don't want Smart this or that because it will simply be plumbed into my Sky HD box in the bedroom above. Just a thin 37" or 29" dumb TV. scratchchin Suggestions?

You're thinking of the original 7/8000 series, they're still available at that sort of size (35mm) but only 40"+. Unfortunately the size (depth) you're after is only really found at the upper end of the market, so bigger, smarter etc...

Samsung is the one, plus a ultra thin mount, I'll measure ours when I get into the office but it's pretty close to the wall

Just so you know what year model you are looking at with Samsung, it's as follows:

2011 - D
2012 - E
2013 - F
2014 - H

Thanks, as it's a kitchen I think maybe second hand might be the way to go.

Sounds ideal, thanks...

p.s. what I don't understand (and what's been confusing me) is that Samsung's website shows them mostly as being almost 50mm deep?!? e.g.

Why not get one that attaches to the underside of the kitchen cabinets?

Something like this?

Thanks but that's not really what we've got in mind. There's a big flat area of wall above the bench seat where it will fit nicely, just need a thin one. smile

I'd maybe agree with that, but would possibly look for something that's got the balance of a warranty. This maybe wont be too scarce, considering the likes of John Lewis and Richer Sounds both supply/offer 5yr warranties.

The Samsung slim mount is definitely a space saver as the front fascia of my C8000 is only 35mm from the wall behind. I think some of the more modern features such as the upgrade modules may be adding bulk - either that or Samsung assume its only the bigger screens that will be wall mounted?? Any link to the mounting kit below:

Pretty simple to install - I did mine, and surprisingly the TV is still on the wall a few years later!!

Slightly off the track but if you do mount it there, you'll have issues with the spot lights washing over the screen.

As it appears they are on a circuit with other spots in the kitchen, you'd be better off disconnecting those two spots or have a separate switch so they don't spoil the image when viewing.

Yeah, I thought of that and will have to put an in-line switch on them. Bit of a pain but it's what my wife wants wink Her logic is that she spends more time in there. Can't argue with that hehe
