Mercedes CLK (2004+) buying advice please

I've been mulling over a number of cars for a while but I'm settled on a CLK now.
I'm looking at 2004+ as that is when the facelift interior appears to have been introduced and that makes a significant difference; pre-facelift interior is beginning to show its age.
I'm sticking to petrol engines to reduce the potential risk of things going wrong. This does limit my choice on the second hand market. I'd be happy with either the 240 or 320. An automatic gearbox is a must. Speed is not important.
So now for the questions - what are the key things to look out for when buying one? Which questions should I be asking (I.e are there are any common / expensive things which need to have been changed) the ones in budget appear to be around 60k - 70k upwards.
Also, if anyone of you have owned one - what are your opinions of it?
