Flat bottomed wheel

Being just over six feet i find my Superlight a bit of a squeeze. With the tillets all the way back I still catch the wheel with the thigh when moving from accelerator to brake. Does a flat bottomed wheel make much difference?

Hi have you lifted the pedalbox lid to see if the pivot for the pedals is all the way forward? Mine has 3 positions

When I had my Superlight it came with the Momo wheel



Like you, I found my thigh getting in the way far too often so changed the wheel for one of these:



That certainly solved the problem for me

Im a complete numpty and totally forgot to check the pedal box!! Is it straightforward to move the pedal box from one position to another?

That wheel looks just the ticket - which model is it?

I have always had a flat bottom open wheel - the Momo 16c is great on a 7, esp with a 22% rack. Some insurers won't cover them for road use though.

If the pedal box doesn't help, it is possible to gain another inch of legroom by choosing different holes in the adjustable seat runners if the car has been built according to the Caterham manual. I did this and it was just enough to get clearance with the standard Motolita wheel.

I'd look at 3 options, in order of ease / expense :

1) Pedal box adjustment (easiest to do and it's free)
2) Wheel - smaller / flatbottomed
3) Lowered floor

The flat bottomed wheel looks fine going straight ahead, but what about on the twisties - never got them really.

Lowered floor is best option...

Lowered floor makes a big difference to the clearance.
