Spending a few days based about half way about between Orleans and Vierzon in France. I have a pass to just go for a spin one day on my own and have a bit of fun so would like recommendations as to a good route/destination for a drive for say a half day staying off the dual carriageways where possible smile

Your in a fairly flat , featureless part of France there , the roads are mainly straight towards vierzon , and there's not to much there for the size of the place , I was stuck broken down for 3 days a couple of years ago there . Best stay further towards Orleans .

It's one of the flattest parts of France, especially north of Orleans.
I'd go to the east of Vierzon towards Sancerre area. It's hilly and a nice looking wine region. There may be a "wine road" which is generally good fun, or you may create yours.
