So, just got the immobiliser bypass sorted on Saturday.

Checked all lights - all good. Front/rear/brake/indicators etc all fine.

Now FGess has just tried to come home from work. No lights on dash, no lights outside.

Brake lights OK. When you pull full beam on, she gets full beam lights. If you put full beam on permanently no lights.

Does this sound like dipped beam relay and/or fuse?

TIA
Dave

Could be fuses etc.....
Could be that you knocked the ribbon cable off the light switch or off the control box in the dash when you were bypassing the immobiliser?
I had similar losses when i had mice in my car.....
Did you also knock the panel lights switch under the dash driver's side with your left knee?

Thanks - I'm 99% sure I tested the lights after putting the dash down. But a 1% niggle that I didn't!

Sounds like a stalk / loom connector wonky.

The dipped lights are a 25A fuse, separate from the Dash and clock fuse which is a (surprising) 15A jobbie. (interior light on roof is different again)

If it was the main beam relay (lower right relay iifc) I wouldn't expect your flash beam to work at all...

(If the chim is the same as the griff) for me I just lost the rear lights, all my fuses were OK. Found the problem to be a spade terminal come adrift from the push switch on the dash to turn the lights on. There were 2 terminals, one for the rear lights and one for the front. The main beam flashing works no matter what setting the switch is at.

Yep looks like it - found a small ribbon cable with no where to go.

How the fk I'm going to get that back on I've no idea. I can't get access the back of the switch, its too far on the right as you look at the dash. Even if the radio cage was removed I'm not sure I'd get there.

Any ideas?

TIA

It's a later car, with the aluminium switches? Once you have the radio out, that section of dash comes out quite easily. Two retaining screws each side. I had mine out last summer, replacing the ribbon cables after the mice got in. If I can do it, anyone can, so not difficult.

NOT having a go at you at all, but the Steve Heath bible is useless in some areas, but great in others, and it has a good index. Page 290 tells you what I have just typed. I really recommend everyone to get a copy

Were the dash lights the knee switch?

No. That switch was swapped to be a fan override.
Do you need to take the radio cage out, or just the radio?
I'll dig out the bible...
Thanks

That's good news. It would be "illuminating" to know what you found and how you fixed it?

As you suggested I had knocked the ribbon cable off the back of the switch when refitting the radio.

Simply removed the radio cage, undid the 4 self tappers as per page 290, and that was it.

As you said, quite easy really.

Thanks
