C 63 warranties...
Discussion
Dear forum
my used car warranty will expire at the end of March and I was quoted around 1.1 K for a tier one which is the best pack of the Mercedes extended warranty - this could go down by around 100 pounds if you go to tier two which would not cover some electrical items with some 50 quid of if you accept a excess
It is more likely that the command plays up that then the gearbox or the engine blows but if this was to happen it could be eye-watering so I feel a warranty as such might be a good idea - but does it have to be Mercedes- especially as I have heard rumours that they are not underwriting it themselves? I hope to keep the car for at least another 18 months to two years
Does another warranty make more sense - any experiences with either MB or third party worth sharing? Is MB more willing to help if you use "their" warranty?
Thanks

The only warranty worth having is the Merc one. But, at £1100 a year are you better off keeping the money in a slush fund?
The C63 is a pretty hardy beast (touches wood) and very few things are an issue. The only thing that went wromg was the 08 and 58 plate engines and they all got sorted under warranty and good will. Not much has come up on the radar since. I had an E61 M5 before the C63 and had a BMW warranty on that (BMW use the same provider as Merc......Mondial) and that saved me £12k in 2 years. BMW warranty was only £800 a year for tier 1 back then. My Merc passed its 3 year point in Jan and I've no plans to renew it for that sort of money. They just don't break in the same way as cars used to.
My opinion: Save the cash as even though there's always a risk you're unlikely to need it for anything major with the C63.

this is something I have been serioulsy contemplating - somehow the thought of a popped 6.3 l V8 or a major gearbox failure, however makes me wake up sweaty - especially as you have some finance to clear, too. But 1100 time two to 3 years is a lot if you you have no problem...ecain63 said:

So far had minor mirror niggle (making lots of noise when you fold in) - sorted by MB - will probably relook after service... thanks for your feedbackecain63 said:

I think the mirror issue was a recall job anyway. Mine had a mirror software update in october. When i asked what it was for they said that the mirrors were noisy due to the motors working beyond the full range of mirror movement. The motors effectively trying to push too far.
that's exactly how it sounded.....strange - they could have told me but mumbled about we fixed it.... cheers
