Hi all.

Not sure if there are any transit experts on here, but i need advice on replacing the turbo on a 2004 2.4 90 transit. It managed to ingest most of the air filter and having picked out the debris, it runs but the turbine blades are very bent!

The van drives a lot better now and will actually rev above a 1000 rpm, but it's not a happy turbo, so looks like a new one needed.

The only option is a new one (well, new to me that it) but i have a couple of questions regarding the removal and replacement…can it be done with manifold left on the van, i.e. JUST take out the turbo? If so, the dump actuator rod fixes to the inside of the exhaust manifold and seems to be on a pin thats held in place by a split pin…is the right and can this really be removed and replaced with manifold in situ?

Also Is it best to remove the oil drain pipe from the turbo end of the pipe and leave attached to sump or take out the retaining bolt and remove the lower end of the pipe??

I tried to get it out tonight, but the actuator rod and the oil drain pipe were the hurdles…

any help much appreciated!
