Selling a Porsche

There's quite a bit on here about buying cars, but not quite so much about selling, so I thought I'd ask.
Obviously the private sale route is a possible, and I may explore it, though there's finance on the car, which might prove a PITA (I know, I know - bad idea blah blah, but it was a 'now or never' type decision).
Anyway, which dealers are worth speaking to - 911V obviously, but is anybody else worth a call? I've spoken to 911V and they have a 2008 Cayman S already in stock, and I don't think that's helping with their valuation, so I wonder if there's anybody else worth speaking to - perhaps even an OPC?? All advice, as always, gratefully received.
(oh, and p/x isn't an option, as I'll be going to a lease for the new car)

I've dealt with JZM - they sold my 997.2 GT3 on SOR which was a good way of selling an expensive car. Russ and Jonas were excellent. They also took purchasers car and disposed of it through their trade contacts and arranged finance...a private seller would not be able to do this easily. SOR is a midway point financially (return) of selling privately or back to OPC, but without hassle of tyre kickers and silly bids. Key for me was their ability to make a deal possible as potential purchasers don't often have £75-£80k cash ready to give a private seller, and finance companies are reluctant to to deal with private sellers. All in all, everyone often feels more comfortable dealing with a JZM or 911V. In your case both would also be able to settle off the finance from your car as part of deal, which is another positive for purchaser knowing its HPI clear, and less hassle for you.

Thanks all, particularly to Porkafly - my Cayman has just been bought by JZM and Russ was indeed excellent to deal with - straight-forward, honest and generally a nice guy. All-in-all I'm very happy with the deal and, even though I could have perhaps made a few quid more privately, this was hassle free and quick, which is a real bonus as I'm pretty busy at the moment.It's a good way to go...

Not only that, but this is the first time I've been to JZM - I was very impressed with their set-up and stock and if I'm in the market for another Porsche, I'll be going back there - their checks on my car were thorough, including putting a camera in to check the bores. All-in-all I'd recommend them unreservedly, whether you're buying or selling. Pretty soon they'll have a lovely white Cayman S for sale too :sob:

Well, that and a Golf R. Smiffy555, who also frequents these parts, mentioned elsewhere how good the lease deals on these were, and it turns out he was right, so I'm just waiting for June now (under £300 a month for a standard car).
The long-term aim is see how we get on with the Golf, and then add a toy to the garage, probably spring 2015. What that will be depends a lot on my business - perhaps an Elise, perhaps a Spyder, or if things are going incredibly well a GT3. I've loved the Porsche, but the uncertainty over the marque's reliability and the cost of a warranty annually, left me wondering if it was really worth the cost. For the last couple of years, maybe, but with a little one due in October, I just don't see me getting the use of it, so decided to shift it on. Not without some regret this morning I must admit.

Thanks for sharing the experience. Very interesting to hear that they are so thorough with the buying process (and also nice to see that not ALL these engines have bore score issues!). Thanks for the kind words - and yes, JZM really impressed me - they seem more thorough than an OPC, and their showroom's actually really nice. Of the indies I've seen they appear the most thorough and professional of the lot. Also only half hour to Euston from the local station.
And as to the Golf R - 0-60 in 4.5s should be reasonably entertaining for a while. But yes, it's no Porsche.

Sold a 993TT via JZM and sold a Cayman S via Cameron Sports Cars.
Both were done on a SOR basis. Both sold immediately. Each company were excellent to deal with - couldn't have been happier.
SOR charges (to me) were more than worth the hoo-ha I wanted to avoid in doing it myself.
Either would also be first choices for buying. I've since tried to get another 993TT and JZM have helped a lot with that, in terms of advice, offers of cars before they come to market etc etc.

I bought my car from JZM and the whole experience was excellent and I would definitely buy from them again when I get my next toy, it's also reassuring to hear how thorough they are when taking in stock, erasures me I got a good one. And as to the Golf R - 0-60 in 4.5s should be reasonably entertaining for a while. But yes, it's no Porsche.
I sold my Wife's 3 year old Disco 4 to Tony at http://www.northstaffscars.co.uk/contact/. A pain free transaction and they offered much more that the dealer trade-in or other dealer bids.
