Hi guys, sure this has been done before, but is there a s et year etc where the engines changed, like I read the gearboxed changed to the t5 at late 1994, if that's correct?
I am looking at a lat Dec 1995 car on Saturday so was just thinking it should have the t5 box with the reverse at bottom right but which engine?
Thanks.

Matt why not ring the vendor and ask what engine/ gearbox it has!
Reverse position should identify the box, the engine has a different water pump and Alternator etc, find some pics identifying the differences before you go if your unsure.

late 94 for change to serpentine too, early serps had slightly different sirl pot layouts but change of gearbox and engine pretty much simultaneous

A good rule of thumb... but when I bought mine it had an SD1 box but a T5 gear knob! But then that's just the quirkiness of TVR

I think there are some out there with the LT77 box in. There was a 500 Chim on Ebay with one. I think they used whatever stock they had until depleted, so would definitely check.

The 500 was available before the serpentine engine came out, the change to engine are gearbox were pretty simultaneous . ( I brought mine then so looked at that time of change over)

any oddballs now are probably caused by people who have made changes over time.

Unfortunately the dates quoted are always 'first registration' which mean very little as they may not be related at all to the build date wink

Trying to get your head round development stages based on that 'date' will just give you a headache.
