Hello!

I seem to have acquired, through a family death, a collection of collectable buses, all of which are in pristine condition and come in their original boxes, which look untouched!

I have done the search of eBay to see what the market is like for them on their and they seem to fetch about a fiver each (shame as they cost £25 each) and as such I am not too keen on putting them up there... as I have 78 of them!

I have no knowledge of these collectors pieces and so have no idea on where would be the best place to advertise them, or even if they are particularly collectable.

Any advice welcome smile

Like all things, if you find the right market, there will be customers.

If you want to avoid hassle - but perhaps be prepared less money, maybe contacting a dealer might be of use.

There should be lots of die cast collectable forums where you could check out what the score is regarding selling second hand collections.

It's always the same, you wait ages for one and then 78 come along at the same time.

I did wonder how I could have dropped that joke in myself but didn't go with it, glad it has made it's way on to the thread though!

Buy a copy of Collectors Gazette as they have carry a number of adverts from dealers, many of them specialists, who buy whole collections.

Also list them all & then email Vectis Model Auctions who will give you an approximate valuation & guidance as to the best way to dispose of them.

Use fleabay as a last option. IMO anyway.

They may be worth more than that dependent on who made them?

Any manufacturer branding on the boxes?

I used to work in a model shop and it was amazing the number of collectors these little buses had.

Often they were the same cast, in different colours or with different destinations / numbers on the front. Not just the old Routemasters either which you could almost pass as they have a bit of nostalgia, but the majority of these were replicas of modern-day diesel-belching box shaped buses with authentic piss-stained seats. Madness.

Are they EFE (Exclusive First Editions) or another brand?

Morning All,

I've got a number of EFEs, Quite a number of Limited Edition Corgis and some others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Most are Limited Edition from memory. I will put a list up when I have a spare couple of hours to go through them!

All interesting replies though thanks!
