Got this horrible squealing noise and no, it's not the passenger when I put my foot down!

This noise happens when changing gear and the clutch pedal is partially depressed. I have had it a few weeks now and this morning it was a lot worse.

Does this sound like a knackered thrust release bearing?

Gary

BTW wish I hadn't taken it out today, it got filthy!

Squealing noise uh, was there a ding da ding der ding guitar sound, with someone shouting "squeal piggy", you've been driving in the wood to much and have picked up a redneck suspension ...

Rather sounds like it.
Does it happen any time between first pressing on the pedal and the clutch disengaging?
If it happens only after the clutch disengages then it could be the spigot bearing.

You should be able to tell between thrust bearing and spigot bearing by riding the clutch enough to put pressure on it without it actually slipping.

Given the box has got to come out to do either, you might as well order both - shouldn't be too expensive.

It's gone

Can't explain it. I took it out today, it sounded terrible to start with but after a few miles it happened less and less until by the time I got back after an hour, it was fine.

The previous runs over the last few weeks have been short trips in rather damp conditions. Perhaps moisture on the clutch plate or something?

Anyway, I'm just pleased I didn't pull the box out!

Who's a lucky boy then?

Don't be supprised if it comes back.
I thought I had fixed my leaking tyre beads but alas, NO.
