Which Mercedes Benz under 1000

I have been browsing through lot of models of Mercedes lately. However I am confused which model I should go for.

features required : Cruise control, Good mpg

Some questions are there if you can help
1. Which model should I look for
2. What milage is okay for a mercedes to run another 100000
3. How to find if mileage shown is actually not tampered with
4. what are the possible pitfalls

Pitfalls = rust, lots of rust.

I bought a V reg C class last year as a runaround/shopping trolley. It's a 2 litre petrol and it's just ticked over to 71k miles. Mechanically it is in excellent condition. Only downfall is rust. I've replaced the 2 front wings and refurbished the alloys so far. Got a small patch of rust on the bottom of the NSF door and another small patch around the filler cap, which I'll sort out in the summer. Cost me £600 to buy and another £150 so far in parts and paint. Sailed through its MOT in December.

Mileage - check MOT's/service history and condition of car.

If your budget is under £1k and you're adamant on a Mercedes to last another 100k miles you're either dreaming or a troll.

For under a grand, if you're not a very good mechanic then you need to be very, very lucky to get it to last another 100k miles.

That sort of money needs to be spent on the best possible car of any brand rather than the best possible Mercedes - trust me, nobody will think you're "majestic".

With a budget of £1k, I really don't see main dealers being much of a pitfall

A bright yellow CLK with a 3.2 petrol engine and an ugly stripe is neither going to be economical or in any sense of the word majestic.

I called for this Yellow one its sold.

Should I go for the other one? i am not sure if the mileage shown is genuine.

I immediately contacted but it was sold till then.

with Mercs I would say that older is better, when they made them properly, hence something like a 190E. Should last a long time
