mcgurk vantage exhausts
Discussion
Now, this might put the cat amongst the pigeons lol. I was over there today to say hello and John told me that they were going to be offering their own exhaust upgrade for the vantage. Their's are being made through thorney motorsport.
Now, this is not an advert and frankly I couldn't care less who people get their exhausts from, it's their personal choice, but I just thought I'd let you lot know there is a new player in the "go faster exhausts" game.

They tweeted earlier saying the price is £3900+VAT and gains are around 46bhp.
Also looks like their development car is for sale - http://www.mcgurk.com/stock/198/Used-Aston-Martin-...

Now then people, we must remember we are gentlemen and not to let the forum go to s
t again because of someone mentioning another exhaust company. We can't let this get into another Willy waving contest. At the end of the day, no customer cars have had one, so nobody can say theirs is better. Having said that, it will have to be a good one to compete with the other local firm, as there's is a work of art and very well established.
Now, let's continue to be nice.

its always nice to have choice...
...but im really surprised that anyone else would bother to spend the time on developing an exhaust....its niche vehicle, with a niche of owners who would actually want to spend £5k on an exhaust....
....theres around 3000 thousand Vantages on the road in the UK...once youve accounted for all the hairdressers and other poseurs thats not a big market for rich car enthusiasts buying fancy exhausts
or am I missing something here? have guys at Bamford Rose retired already on the profits from exhaust sales ?
I guess if you NEED to offer customers an exhaust as part of a range of upgrades offered, then you have no choice but to buy one in or develop your own......

Thorney had a good rep when I was in my M3, so would be suprised if it was less than a good product. I'm still not convinced spending £5k on an exhaust is a great investment, personally. Irrespective of the vendor. Seems like a whole lot of money.
It is a whole lot of money kris, no two ways about it, but for those that can't quite afford a 4.7, it bridges the performance gap nicely. From what I saw of McGurks at Xmas, they seem like a very professional outfit and wouldn't imagine they would be fitting an inferior product. Competition is a very healthy thing, and as a member of the 'fanclub', I have no problem with it at all. People should have the choice and this is exactly that.

It's a good bridge no doubt and the noise from the aftermarket exhausts is lovely, just not £5k lovely - IMHO. Hopefully the competition will drive the price to a more justifiable level, that or I'll just buy a V12V in the same colour as my existing car and hope no one notices

John did have a good rep during the 'early' days of BM3W. But, by the 'end', his string of broken promises were starting to catch up with him. If you ask about Thorney over on cslregister, you get a very different story. I seem to remember that it was a similar story on the vx220 forums.krisdelta said:
