Leica C or Leica V Lux 40

I am interested in buying a Leica C (new type 112) or the V Lux 40.

Sadly the V Lux 40 is no longer available (except some places online). I am wanting something compact that I can carry around the world to take some nice pictures.

I used to have a Leica D lux 3 and now use a Sony Rx100 Mark 2 which is a fantastic camera you can really do a lot with.

Leica compacts are rebadged panasonics or Sony's etc. They have their own processing but that is really only to show a little effort doesn't mean anything.

If you want to spend on a decent pns then get a Sony canon or Fuji

Have to echo Rob's comments – you'd be hard pushed to notice the difference in photos between the Leica model, and the one its based on from Panasonic.
Don't think Sony are involved, as they have tied themselves up for many years with rival lens manufacturer, Carl Zeiss.

Could you get both and still have change from the Leica? Perhaps enough to buy a red dot from somewhere?

The RX100 is a beautifully made thing. As a genuine high end 'pocket' compact, it has to be the best choice.

Depending on what you're wanting to photograph, and how your tolerance is to certain aspects, you could opt for a pair of Sigma DP Merrils now that they've dropped in price to clear the decks for the new versions coming later this summer.
