Company car question - what would you choose?

A friend has just sent me this list of potential company cars and what they would cost him pcm in tax. These are his only options aiui, he mentioned something about a pool car so I presume these were all initially leased as pool cars but he can now take his pick. Options are:
Volvo V50 D2 ES Diesel Estate Manual, £129.54pcm
Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI Econectic Manual Diesel, £65.84pcm
BMW 3 Series Diesel Touring 318d SE Estate, £185.47pcm
Audi A4 2.0TDI Technik Saloon Manual Diesel, £187.09pcm
BMW 3 D ES Saloon Manual Diesel, £143.69pcm
BMW 3 Series Saloon (2008) 318i M Sport 4dr, £195.14pcm
BMW 118D Sport 5dr H/Back Diesel Manual, £139.65pcm
Now, I am presuming the rest are all relatively new, so that would rule out the most expensive car as it appears to be 6 years old! My friend has his first baby due shortly way and is also into things like kayaking, so I would naturally suggest an estate, probably the Volvo but are they that big? Would the 1 Series actually be that far behind it in terms of space?
With that taken into consideration, what would you opt for?

Of those limited choices, the Volvo D2’s 115bhp would drive me up the wall, so it would have to be the 318 wagon. The 1 series is really limited on interior space and has a tiny boot.
When I’ve taken pool cars in the past I’ve always gone for the one with the least amount of time left on the lease – as once the lease is up I can choose something I want from the full list.

Lol yeah just been readin, good point that comfort expectation is already low (Astra level) cost per month big driver.
Really surprised on low scores for BMW and not even an Audi mention.
Apparently 2.0 golf on way but don't know the mpg.

The 1 series if budget as rwd, good drivers car, small and reasonably nippy.
The a4 if he wants to pay more. Good spec, looks good. If its the se technic it has nav and leather, good mpg, good bAdge, good engine.

Not the 3 series es , terrible spec, fiesta too poor, not the Volvo either, hate them and its dog slow stirring that manual box in that Volvo.

I know he does some business trips that he has to drive for, but I think it's more just for his drive up and down the M3 to the office each day.
That Audi looks good, my sister has an A3 that is absolutely packed to the rafters with toys and has leather/alcantara and it's a very nice place to be.

I suspect we're being pushed down the estate route because of your opening post, but either way it's a bland selection and none are really worth spending £600 extra a year on vs the Volvo (Unless, I guess, he does a lot of a road driving and some overtaking punch is essential.)Lol yeah just been readin, good point that comfort expectation is already low (Astra level) cost per month big driver.
