I've always thought I was a good customer. Reading into a few threads on here I'm wondering if I'm awkward?

Thinking about the numerous car salesman ones but not just that, pretty much anything.

I'm tight bugger and when I do decide to spend my hard earned I want to know the product is right. I spend a lot of time researching, reading reviews, asking on forums even before I go to see it.

When I do I want to check every detail. All the functions, dimensions, everything about it. When I'm finally sold on a product I then look to find a seller I can put my faith in.

Once I've done all that I'm happy to hand over reasonably large amounts of cash £1k+ but I'm wondering If sellers just see me as a pita and would rather deal with someone willing to simply walk in n and hand over the money.

A good salesman will want to maximise every opportunity. A bad one will only want easy wins.

Whether you are an awkward customer or a valued prospect depends on which of the two you are dealing with.

I am a salesman's nightmare.

I work on the basis that whatever deal they initially offer me is actually very good for them and therefor not the best deal for me. having been a salesman in the past probably accounts for my attitude though. whether it was offering extended cover on appliances or finance deals on cars that paid me the most commission but made the customer pay a higher APR I did it all but I would, if pushed, eventually give them the best deal because a smaller commission was always better than no commission.

never accept the first offer from anyone, be it insurance companies, car salesmen or plumbers. Everyone who sells either a product or service for a living wants the best deal for themselves.

Hopefully, having atoned for my salesman sins of the past at the time I depart from this mortal existence i will be heading up and not down. will be a close call though.....:-)

From a sales point of view, I really like customers who do their research, they tend to know what they want. That makes the first part of the sale easy. Then if you can meet the customers requirements, it's all about convincing said customer that you REALLY can meet their demands ( earn the customers trust) once that is done, it's about finding some common ground so the 'deal' can be struck. There has to be compromise on both sides for a deal to work , other wise one party feels they have been shafted ,which is never good. The only customers I dislike are the ones who Think they know more than me, want everything for fkall and seem to have the view that they are doing me a favour by making their purchase from me.

I'm pretty sure I'm a pain in the ass, a total know-it-all when it comes to buying a car. But I'm not a time waster at least.

I'm the best customer ever. Can be talked into anything, and convinced that even the most outrageous rip off is a bargain.
