I hope that either trade plates, or a vehicle transporter was used for the journey to the supermarket.

The tale is that the original car disappeared following a theft.

When you see a DB5 displaying BMT 214A number plates, have a look at the registration mark shown on the tax disc.

Not sure about that. I'm fairly certain that the chaps at works service simply offered a customer's car coincidently in for restoration.

Yes, the customer's car was a green DB5. It is staying Silver Birch now that it has Skyfall in it's history. What a stroke of luck. Put a car in for restoration, and suddenly it becomes famous.

I think there were two DB5s in the film, plus a couple of half scale models, that were used for the car destroyed near the castle.

Guys, you are all confused! Go to the back of the class!!!

007s DB5 in Goldfinger, Thunderball and Skyfall is BMT 216A!!
There are many display cars using this number plate now and there is a long history including how one of the original Goldfinger cars was stolen and never seen again.

In Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies, 007 drove a DB5 bearing the number plate BMT 214A!!
It is not as famous as it's sibling and there may not be any others being used as display vehicles and certainly not on the public road!

This is a rare spot indeed!!

Thank you for your explanation.

One of the delights of this form, is that when I contribute what turns out to be a half truth, more knowledgeable people step forth. Excellent.

There is still one thing that puzzles me.
Neither BMT 214A, nor BMT 216A seem to have a record on the DVLA database (DVLA Vehicle Enquiry web page).

If it was BMT 216A that was stolen, then why does BMT 214A not show as car with a UK Registration Certificate?

Here's a little more which is all to be found on the internet but most of all I have been looking for a picture of the DB4 Prototype DP 216/1 (DP meaning Design Project). This car was the original car provided by Aston Martin and fitted with the gadgets by Q Branch. Predictably, I rather like that colour wink

(from Google) …the car outfitted with all the Q-Branch extras during filming known as the effects car was DP/216/1 (original holder of plate number BMT 216A). Note the DP in its chassis number indicates it was a prototype (initially to be called the DB4 Series VI). DP/216/1 which is really the quintessential Bond car was stolen from a warehouse in Florida in the 1990s and never recovered.

DB5/1486/R was used for filming driving scenes and only fitted out with the Q-Branch modifications after filming stopped for the show circuit. So it did appear in the films but is not as it appeared in the films.

There are two other cars which were outfitted for publicity tours, DB5/2008/R and DB5/2017/R. They never appeared in film, but are accurate recreations of DP/216/1.

It was actually painted Skyfall Silver I believe (having recently discussed the story on the works mini-tour).

Not forgetting of course the 3rd "Goldfinger" car - FMP 7B which featured in various locations and was intended for the fast driving sequences. FMP 7B was given substantial screen time, most notably the scenes at the Stoke Park Club and, even more recognizably, when Bond is spying on Goldfinger from the picturesque Furka Pass in Switzerland smile

Does that therefore mean, that the 'sharp eyed' can spot any colour difference between the two DB5 cars in the Skyfall film?

I was told that some minor differences can be seen. I forget what the detail is, perhaps a badge etc.

I'm sure I read the destroyed one was a Porsche 944 with a pretty frock on.

Very funny, laugh (presume that you are joking).

There was an article in one of the AM magazines, descibing the construction of (I think two) half scale model DB5 cars. They were produced using a 3D printer.
