DVLA... er, what?

Just tried to change the address on my driving licence using the DVLA internet thing. Had to register for 'Gateway services', filled in all the relevant bits, given all the info, jumped through all the bloody hoops they request and at the end of it all, I do not know if I've actually managed to change my bloody address!
Yes, I've got to the end of the various pages, so I 'think' I've completed it all, but there's no indication that I've actually achieved bugger all. They say they'll send an e-mail, but of course, I haven't received one.
I hate the government! So complicated and confusing and now I'm panicing that I've done it right... or not and I'm about to get buggered about for months!
