458, 430, scud, 360, challange, 12c, turbo, gt2, gallardo, db9, vanquish, vantage v12 sl63, m3, m6, kit cars (inc caterhams, ariel, ktm, radical etc), the list goes on

more importantly is what you get for your money

im starting to think about what gets your further (more pleasure?) with your money, say your going to spend 80-110k on a gt3

another option is to get a full track prep car and a daily drive

perhaps a 997.1 gt3 and a x5

perhaps a ariel atom supercharged and a c63

maybe a stripped m3 and a db9

just some thoughts

given that the manual transmission is no longer available, i would have thought the ferraris (esp 430 scud) sound like attractive alternatives. not that i am in a position to buy either one unfortunately. of course those will not be new purchases, but with a ferrari warranty it should be ok i guess

Nothing really out there. If we talking track setup with factory roll cage, harness, not more than 1400kg and a proper engine. A car you can drive to the track and back no problem.

A friend is picking up one of those orange M3 GTS. Let's see what that's all about.

As far as drivers' cars go, a CSL.

Ferraris, Lambos etc serve a different purpose in my view - more a Sunday morning gloat car, rather than an all out drivers' car, that is day to day useable.

out the factory - this is the only car i would say is the same "style" as a gt3 - i guess a scud also, but never driven one

I agree on the 911 GTS.....much underestimated IMO....Attwood, one of the
PEC drivers also considered it to be the best drivers 911...praise indeed!.....

i hear that a lot. why is it that good? I mean you have to paddle shift. wouldn't a regular manual m3 be better? I obviously have not had extensive drives of the CSL

They are the nuts. Just quick enough to be real fun, and handle perfectly.

The paddle shift even suits the car. And you will never lose money either!!
