I've owned / driven / services all the variants.
160 was underdeveloped from an engine and suspension point of view IMHO.
For the track - go with a 160, new suspension and a retime / remap. or the road a 111s (has CR box and VVC mech) will be quicker in most situations.
I love the look of the 160 though - the raiser blocks, alcantara etc. are great.
reliability wise there's nothing in it - it's just that day to day the 160 is a PITA to start / idle / drive slow - the 111s is much more civilised.
have alook at the british-cars BBS and check the archives for a lot of feedback on the 160 running - anyone that says they're easy to live with as standard is lying!!
