Im looking to buy a vindicator sprint 7 next week. ino there not the most popular of cars but the house and the mrs dictate how much im allowed to spend ( I also quite like the shape) tongue out... any way iv been trawling the tinterweb for the best part of a week and found no local owners clubs for kit cars (northeast - hartlepool- chimp choker !!) That looks.. eer.. interesting.

A kitcar is only as good as the person who built it, worth remembering that when veiwing any smile

Nah, it's not too bad really, a bit Morganesque from some angles. What engine's in it?

Currently a 1.6 ford pinto engine it only puts out abt 80bhp but I will be looking to up grade it as soon as money allows to a 1.8 ztec engine but with it being such a light car I dont think the engine will be an issue for now.. like I sed im a kit car virgin biggrin

Im really confused, please enlighten me.

Why have one of these rather than the car its trying to poorly copy?

Or why have one over one of the better looking 7 style cars? Westfield, Dax, Tiger, Locost etc...

At the moment it boils down to cost and I like the look of the car. its a specific taste. Are u a kit car owner ? I have had my fair share of cars considering im only 23 my favourite was my fiesta st but I fancy a change and this one fits the bill unless I get the lotto up (fingers crossed) !!!

Ok fair enough, it must be a very acquired taste.

Im not a kit car owner, but have worked on a fair few kit car style construction cars. My main concern with looking at a budget kit car would be the standard of workmanship that's gone into it. You see an awful lot of bodges and shoddy engineering on cars like this.

The best option would be to completely rebuild one, for piece of mind more than anything.

Thats good advice. I look at the car as a long term project which will eventually be rebuilt as I go along. Iam just not in the position to hand over 4k or more to buy a half built project the spend a further 5k to get it on the road and not be able to drive it in the summer months. Come the winter months I will strip the car down to its chassi and start agen and hopefully get its all spryed up or even dipped and powder coated. But like I said long term !! I would prefer to have extra cash floating around to start from scratch as I would get a lot more satisfaction from the build.

Thx

With a budget of £4k I would be looking for a Sylva Striker, another option if you intend to upgrade anyway would be to look for an early pinto powered westfield se and the upgrade from there

That actually looks worse in the flesh, truly appalling. The two seat version is not quite as bad. It may be worth you taking a look at what Tiger have to offer, but I suspect even a poorly build Cat may be out of your price bracket. If I were you I would save a few more pennies go down that route.
