As title suggests, there's a nice article in the latest Evo magazine testing 4WD cars in North Wales. I hit some of these roads (Evo Triangle, Llanberis Pass) last summer and want to go back there in the last week of March.

At page 79 of the mag there a picture of a real nice looking road. Does anyone out there know which road this is and which part (roughly)? Would love to include that in the route when I go!

Thanks

A543. (The most satisfying part of the triangle.)

Is that really from the triangle! I would have driven it then. I guess whilst your busy driving you don't pay much attention to the scenery so looking at pics gives the illusion that its a different road.

Fairly sure - it's been a few years... You're also lower than the photo vantage point which distorts a bit.

Good photography on that article.

Would agree with that, in my top 5 roads of all time.

What about the single track on the preceding page (Audi & Porsche)?

Not one I've driven & given my earlier contretemps ... so I'll let someone else have first dibs although derivable from the landscape.

I contacted the Evo editorial team a few days back and they also confirmed the actual road. Funny thing is that I have been down that road too when I visited last year!

I'm pretty sure it's the section of B4391 just west of the junction with the A4212. Brillant all the way to Ffestiniog.

There's another less well-known section south-east from Bala across the fells and down the valley side to Llangynog which is also superb.

Spot on, 2 of the best stretches of road anywhere and frequently featured in magazine shoots.

This video is slightly tedious if you're not into instructing but from 9:23 you get the same view /identical mountains and pylons at a fairly slow pace - it was the pylons that got me as I didn't recall that the 4391 had any so just assumed it was the triangle... getmecoat
