Just because he's 'taken over' the garage doesn't mean he has the right to sell the car (no documents for a start).

Is it my eyes or does that look like a 2L Pinto engine? AFAIK no Tasmin that early had a 2L... unless the plate was 'personalised' and it's a later car...

Yep looks like pretty hard front end smash, and a 2L OHC engine, which can't possibly be original....

I'd worry about the state of the chassis at the front.... Can't see clearly, but I reckon the front crossbar has been bent by the engine (probably the original 2.8 ?) It looks like the front fan on the OHC isn't clearing the crossbar either... Looks like early series 1 to me....

Very suspicious......

Might be worth saving, but a LOT of work. I wouldn't buy it, except for breaking, at 100 quid it's got to be worth more than that in parts !

I also didn't think V reg was right for a DHC, they only started to produce them late 1980 on W plates AFAIK.

So I'd suspect this to be a "personal plate" too....Guess the DVLA could tell whoever buys it for sure.

I'm trying to remember when they started to 2.0L pinto, my guess would be not before 1982, but I may well be wrong.

Looks in more of a sorry state than my "spare parts kit", my current wedge was sat for 13 years before I got it, but was in MUCH better condition than that one.

I wouldn't advocate scrapping a TVR as every one is special and irreplaceable. But at what point does it make no economic sense investing the time and effort putting a car back on the road? Asthetic value aside, anyone taking that car on would be £10k out of pocket? Good Luck to the buyer.
I would think chassis work and bodywork respray etc is going to get expensive. At the end of the day it depends what you want the end result to be.How much work you can do yourself, and if you restore it to original condition.

This is exactly it. Some people take on a project for the love of it, not with one eye on the bank balance or how much they can profit at the end of the job.
Anyone see that TV prog the other night with the guy who'd built a 25 foot long model boat in a council flat? Or the other one who'd built a scale model of Paddington Station over a quarter century? And as for the railway modellers... ! Not everyone counts the shekels in their hobby.

Unless you can paint, trim and do mechanics I think £10K for a full restoration is optimistic TBH. Paint £3K minimum, re-trim £4K, chassis £3K if you can dismantle the car yourself, otherwise £7K+, then mechanics on top, could easily be another £5K+. I know someone that has spent £35K on a full restoration of a Vixen expecting a lot less.

I rebuilt my old TR6. Imported American chassis, completely rebuilt body shell and literally every single nut and bolt came apart. Every fast bit I could fit on and great paint job all for £6500.

Sorry Guys was a little amazed at the heading of beyond saving
If that was a Vixen or any other early car even an M series the heading would be Needs Saving the cost of restoration is not what you start with but what you want to achieve at the end
I see cars advertised as fully restored 5 years ago and I really have to wonder what there idea of fully restored is yes 25 to 30k is what a concourse better than new restoration takes.
Buy it stack it and when values rise it will be a different story
