Posted here for a bigger audience.

Living north of the border, we don't get ITV in HD, so I tuned my Sky box to theese EPG settings -

10.832 H 22.0 5/6, and it has been fine ever since. Last night the box couldn't find the channel, so I re entered the settings again just in case it was a box glitch, the only channels offered after hitting the search button were :-

ITV4+1, ITV Wales, two just said ITV, and ITV1+1,

ITV1 HD which used to show as available last night, and is still programmed on my box isn't there.

Have spent googling and got nowhere.

So can anyone offer any suggestions, did the channel change frequency etc yesterday.

Tried rebooting the sky box, it will still show ITV HD under other channels, but all it does is show a blue screen and "Searching for listings", left 5 mins and nothing changed.

Mine hasn't worked for a couple days now. I am in the Northwest (of England) not sure which ITV region I had. I did think of doing a rescan (I am on Freesat), but didn't want the hassle of having to delete all the rubbish channels again.

Tried that, think you meant 22000, says "No signal found", on the box set signal strength etc is over 95%, the link you gave me shows the current settings I am using, wondering if it's a sat glitch.

Strange that red twins stopped a couple of days ago.

Strange lyngsat are also listing it on 11097 V 23000 2/3. There's a few others there you could try.
(Sorry - I don't have a sky box and mine is not HD so can't actually test any of these!)

Mine's broken too here in London, can't be bothered to rescan. Sometimes the channels come back after a few days.

Very odd, I only have two choices on baud rate, 27.5 and 22.0.

The fact is isn't working in London either, guess it's the sat signal not my box, thanks everyone for your input, much appreciated.

Could this be something to do with the new satellite that's taking over from the old Astra one?

It's knocking out all the UK freeview channels in Spain so perhaps it's having issues in the UK, as well?

We lost ITV last night too and several other channels although none of the movie channels.

I just watched something else and thought I would try and reset the box tonight.

All very strange, I can still set up the box for London ITV but not the HD channel, doesn't seem to exist.

Are there any other areas with ITV1 HD, Granada etc....

Is there life without Corrie in HD......

Well! googling around and found some more channel set ups.

Tried 11.053 H 22 5/6 and got UTV HD.

Got knows what area that is, but at the moment it's showing the same programme as London ITV1 in HD.

Link.

More finger tapping, it's ITV for Northern Ireland, seems to list same channels as London ITV HD, back to Corrie in HD, must be worth some brownie points from the OH.

I rescanned last night and got ITV HD back. I use the "other sat" feature so I can get other regions of ITV HD (including UTV) channels. I was getting STV HD on an experimental channel but that went a few days ago but it is due for official transmission in April.

Do you recall what settings you used for ITV HD, no worries if not, UTV HD works for now, same programmes as London ITV.

Scanning was automatic on my TV using postcode to determine area.
Checking the values displays:
11097,V,23000

You said 23000, guess you mean 23.000 the only choice I get is 22.0 or 27.5, also you didn't mention the FEC ie 2/3, then again you mention your TV scanning, must not be same as sky settings, thanks anyway.

Until London ITV HD gets back and running, we will be watching UTC, same old ste, but on HD, Corrie, Emmerdale etc etc (the OH by the way), I watch the intellectual programmes. biggrin

Yep though

I've just read that alledgedly "Some HD channels use a symbol rate of 23000 or 29500 but these are not options on a Sky+HD receiver due to Sky's software restrictions and so these channels cannot be tuned in using a Sky+HD receiver"

Looks like you might be stuffed there?

Consider doing a full reset with software download/update - I think you press and hold the standby button whilst applying power.

Be warned though you could lose all your recorded programs - you'll need to google to double check.

ETA:

The Ulster one listed in that lyngsat list I linked to earlier appears to still be running on a 22000 symbol rate - so you should be able to get that one - that's the Northern Ireland variant - so News and Adverts will be different to London.

Is your's an old HD box?

Thanks for the info, as I mentioned earlier I have retuned to UTV, Northern Ireland ITV HD, so until the London channel re-appears we are OK for the programmes we used to watch. Could be a plus if as you say the adverts will be different biggrin

Still strange why the ITV HD channel dissapeared last week, doesn't even come up after a rescan, someone did mention satelite change over I think.

The box BTW is probably over 5 years old, always connected to the phone as well, so I guess any updates will be automatic, anyway the OH is happy she can watch Corrie et al in HD again.

It didn't really 'disappear' - Sky move their channels around often enough in terms of frequency changes to get the best 'power' out of the satellite - if they can shut down a transponder on the satellite by moving a TV channel onto a different frequency it makes a significant change to their budget.

Might be worth checking the software version of the box to a Google search to see if updates are available via the -Standby/Power button I mentioned. Sky don't normally 'push' these updates, they are just broadcast over the satellite on a dedicated channel and engineers are required to do it from theirs end.

I recall a call out some months back where Racing UK would not show - an over the air software update fixed the issue, but all recorded programs were lost.

Sky are also rolling out a new pairing system between the boxes and subscription cards. I know that in some cases this requires an automatic update that is pulled by the box when told to do so by Sky - recorded programs in this case are not lost, but it differs in the fact it is not a full box/reset/download. Eventually your box should get one of these auto updates which may fix your lack of the 23000 symbol rate issue.

I am also aware that some of the earlier Thomson HD boxes cannot take the new software upgrade, sky will replace it FOC - but you lose anything you have recorded that you want to keep.

So I am wondering what the viewers in London who used to have ITV in HD do now.

The only moan from the OH now that we watch it on UTV, "I don't like their ads", just can't win......

Just because they can't manually tune ITV London HD doesn't mean their box won't get it.

What Sky only channels do you watch and could you ditch Sky and go Freesat?
