Last year I made some new quicker release stainless hinges. I got some unf stainless studs intended for manifold use off ebay to replace the old rusty ones into the brass inserts in the fibreglass. I noted one insert was a bit suspect at the time, thinking I will come up with a solution.

Its time to address the stud in single shear as its loose now.
Has anyone come up with a neat solution?
I'm thinking the stud needs to be in double shear to support itself. Maybe fibreglass something or graft a stainless support bracket in there; or maybe a rod to run full length from one side to the other? Or beef up the single shear design?

If it was me, I'd consider running a long bar the whole length of the bonnet - it'd stop the angular force on the pin. I assume you mean the pivot for the bonnet is working loose or bending from only being supported at just one end?

I guess you could manufacture a mounting bracket on the nut side of the pivot too - and a mirror image for the opposite side. You wouldn't need much more than a longer pin and a wedge of steel plate and some fiberglass to secure it in position.
