Been tempted by a Mondeo ST220 recently and went an tried one today. Car drove well. Not quite the power I`m used to but as an all round package it certainly seems to tick many boxes.
Only one question. The clutch bite was very low. Is this the norm? After a couple of stalls I had no problem with it. No slipping no noises etc pulls well when the revs pick upjust a very low biting point.

Anyone confirm if this is normal?

No it shouldn't be low.
What did you think of the brakes? I remember thinking they were terrible standard hence I upgraded.
Agree, they are not that fast these days. They are a great all rounder though for the money.

What did I think of the brakes? Nothing special. For the money that`s in them I`d say they`re a bloody good car though. Once it was wound up it sounded good and went pretty well and felt really stable. They go quicker than they actually feel to be honest and the speed comes fuss free. The car I drove hadn`t seen a wash or hoover for two years. It`s cheap though so might be worth a punt.

I've got a race blue estate which I got in PX for a Z4 I sold, so it wasn't my choice of car.
Really impressed though. Mine has a JP ss exhaust and came with a bluefin. It sounds great.
When I decided to keep it I put Focus ST callipers and Brembo discs/ pads on which made a massive difference.
I've had a couple of coil packs fail. Just had it into Ford for new coil, leads and plugs at 500 quid but running great.

Mine was fairly low for a Ford, but not right at the bottom of the pedal travel. Clutch and DMF is nearly a grand IIRC. A lot of people seem to find them easy to stall when they first get them.

These engines like regular oil changes, so check for that. Also check everything electrical works (try Central locking from inside) as electrical gremlins are costly to fix.

Also check the rear subframe bushes if you can - known week point. As is rust on the door bottoms.

Loved mine. More special than people give Ford credit for, and underrated.
