Hello, I was at a loose end this afternoon so as I'm after a cerb I thought I'd go and have a look at the cat d cerb being sold by phil phedonus, I wasn't really sure about it being a cat d, or the orange looking stuff on the chassis ( oxidising , some have said) but I'd thought I'd look at it anyway, it was only 45 mins away, but when I got to the address he seems to operate out of a little yard with an open garage with a corrugated metal roof at the rear of a Costcutter on a parade of shops. I re checked some of his photos for his other cars and they were definatly taken there, has anyone had any dealings with him at all ???

i would recommend Phil 100%, he knows his tvrs, bought my cerb off him, he sorted a couple of niggles free of charge, that he wasnt liable to do a month after i got the car.

I looked at a Cerb Phil had for sale when I first started my search for one. A thoroughly good chap, and I'd recommend him, even though the car he had was not my final choice on the grounds it was not in original condition. (I didn't want a modified one.)

Bought my Cerb from Phil and bumped into him a bunch of times at Bespoke performance.. Nice guy, and helpful. Does a lot of work on the cars himself so knows his stuff.

This car has been discussed somewhere on here already. The orange in my eye looks like rust coming through which would be a worry if the white paint has just been sprayed over a rusty chassis without treatment. Also, if you look at the nuts/bolts all those have been sprayed over which makes me think it has been a hasty bodge job. I could be totally wrong and you won't know without seeing it in the flesh but I would be worried by those pictures.

I thought that was the same one (had the same bonnet vents) but wasn't 100% sure.

Are there any major issues with buying a CAT registered motor

Maybe maybe not, normally it's only fibreglass damage then you go into chassis damage it becomes a Cat C, but not always as its all down to the cost of the repairs. ( I think that's right) . Plenty of cars are CatD and if they've been repaired well are fine, they just have a stigma to them. I wouldn't mind owning one, it's just the selling of it which could be a problem.

I've bought off him in the past and no probs he seems happy to help, don't be put off by the less than flashy showroom, I did look into that cerb myself but he didn't come back to me as why the chassis had been changed?

Yes there's seems to be a story to this car, a cat d but the chassis has been changed . What did Phil say regarding the orange rusty marks all over the chassis?

I owned this Cerbera for 2.5 years smile, sold it to the owner who put it on PH. In hindsight, I should have kept it.

smile I have another which I've had for 8 years - this one was a second one redface I got on really well with the blue Cerbera too, I had hoped that the buyer would keep the car for a good few years. It deserves a good owner.
