Hi guys,

125 miles from home & my N/S front brake caliper is sticking on slightly mad

It looks like the piston is not returning as the the dust seal is protruding more than I'd suspect & the sliders seem reasonably free.

Obviously I'll need to remove the caliper but can someone confirm the alan cap head size, my tools are a long way away & I dont have a big selection onboard frown

If someone can difinitavely confirm what key size I need it would allow be to nip out & get the right one first time.

Many thanks in advance, Dave.

I'm actually in the garage at the moment so good timing (well ... not for you of course).

Bolts take an 8mm allen key/socket.

Hope that helps

Edit: Just to also confirm the bolts are M10 x30mm

Many thanks Kris, I'll try and find an 8mm key locally.

Can I be cheeky and ask if the slider cap heads are 8mm too?

I really appreciate your help thumbup

Well, just to conclude this one with a happy ending I managed to find a friend of a friend who owns a big farm locally.

A dedicated Alfa nut this complete stranger became my new best friend by lending me is workshop for a couple of hours, talk about a good Samaritan thumbup

As I'd feared the piston was completely seized so I whipped off the calliper, stripped it down on the bench, cleaned everything including polishing the cylinder with 1000 grit & reassembled.

Calliper bolted on followed by a quick bleed up & I was back in action ready for my 125 mile return journey home, there's no way would I have completed the journey with a brake like that without either boiling the fluid or cooking the wheel bearing (probably both).

I've just got in after fighting through some nasty weather and she ran (& stopped) perfectly, one dedicated petrol head getting another out of a fix with the loan of his farm workshop, what a top bloke, thanks Richard.

clap

And thanks to kris450 for giving me the calliper bolt & slider allen key sizes smile, it really just confirmed I can't carry everything in my little emergency tool kit.

By the look of my N/S cylinder I think some nice Brembo four pot callipers and 324mm discs are on the cards very soon scratchchin
