Hi yer. I've been on here before talking about the rebody rules rather than Iva. My car is nearly fully finished and Now it's getting close to the inspection of my rebodied registered chassis and I'm filling out paperwork. However I've followed the rules best I see them but I'm getting nervous of what is actually going to happen on the inspection, what do they actual inspect, is it hours long, what do I need to prepare for any questions. I also know that the local Dvla offices are closed now and they used to visit from those offices so What's changed, do they still come to the car, Can anyone help please?

Thanks in anticipation Kevin

Hi Kevin
I have been through this process twice, firstly with a Ferrari F355 replica on a Toyota MR2 in 2007 and lastly with a Ferrari 250GTO replica on a Porsche 944 in March last year.

The inspection took about 15 minutes each time, the first time at my local DVLA office, the second time was at my local VOSA office. The inspector checked the chassis number of the car, looked in the boot and under the bonnet. I explained that the car had body panels fitted to the existing vehicle, I had a few photos to show them of the stripped down donor car and of the panels being fitted and they seemed quite happy. They forwarded my V5 on to Swansea and I received a new V5 with an amended description after a few weeks.

You might find some more relevant information on the Madabout kitcars .com forum under Sammio. Miglia and Tribute build sections as those cars are rebodies of Triumph Herald and Spitfire chassis.

I know that the DVLA have an agreement that these inspections will be performed at VOSA sites until the end of March this year but I have no idea what will happen after that date.
Good luck
Neil
