Goodbye and hello - Ford Connect
Discussion
After 8 years and 130k miles it's time I said goodbye to my little van. Can't fault it tbh, it's been ultra reliable.
Here's my final mileage after parking it up on Friday evening.

Doesn't look too bad for an 8 year old van.

Here's the new one, picked it up yesterday morning so was on the lookout for 14 plates all day.

It's the 95ps version, almost went for the 115ps 6 speed but spent the cash on interior options instead (cruise control, heated seat, aircon, etc).
I've only done 40 miles so far but it's much nicer than the previous model. Just hope its as reliable as my old one.

I haven't seen a new one yet, it's a lot prettier.
We had three of the old ones. One never missed a beat apart from being repeatedly crashed. One had a seemingly unsolvable fuel neck restriction that meant it was a swine to fill up, oh and the rear window fell out because it wasn't glued in properly. One had never ending electrical gremlins. On the plus side it did reset the odometer to zero after about a year...

What is it with Ford barrying interiors with random and awful bits of blue?
What's the difference? In any other car the needles and digital text would be red or white. They're acceptable but blue isn't?That's nice, OP. Didn't realise there was a new Connect out. I haven't even seen any of the new Transits on the road yet either.

Thanks, yes the new model came out in December, not seen many yet myself. That's nice, OP. Didn't realise there was a new Connect out. I haven't even seen any of the new Transits on the road yet either.
We have fuel pump issues with ours, at 89,000 miles. No one in the company likes driving it and that's before the fueling issues. I find the seating position does not suit me at all. We have two proper Transts which are much better to drive, have 6 speed gearboxes and are better on fuel. I've not seen or driven the new Connect so I can't comment on it.

Well its much better than the old one, you can hold a conversation without shouting for a start.I find the seats in this and my old one to be a lot better than others I've tried, they fit me like a glove. That's one of the reasons I didn't go for a Caddy, couldn't get the seat in the correct position.
MPG looks to be much improved from before. Pottering around town I'm seeing 45mpg, will be interesting to see what it'll do at a steady 70mph.
The old Connect used the 1.8TDCi motor shared with the Focus, didn't it? Seemed like a nice van as a mate had one for his decorating business and seemed to go and handle well enough.
My Focus had the same engine. Supposedly had various issues but mine was OK to 64k miles and it seems they can go the distance if looked after.
What engine's the new one using?
